Why google don't show number of results?

Why Google don't show number of results when we start typing search term?

It shows approximate number of results..
just below the search box like-
Results 1 - 10 of about 1,990,000 for digitalpoint. (0.12 seconds)

 

They show this info i guess

 

I am talking about drop down list. When we start typing search term search engines creates a drop down list and estimated search results against those related terms.

I can't see that any more.

I can see these results but at sub domains. I was trying at www.google.com but can't see. Then I tried www.google.com.au and when I started typing I can see results and numbers in drop down list.

Is this same with you. I can't see this at google.com

I typed numbers at google.com like 777 it other ones and it shows a lot of suggestions. It works for me.

 

In search preferences. 'Query Suggestions' and check 'Provide query suggestions in the search box.'

 

In Google.com, it shows me search suggestion i.e. if I type web ho, it shows me some key word suggestions i.e web hosting etc. With country extensions (co.in), it shows me approximate search results while typing in search box.

It means I was right. At main domain www.google.com I was not able to see number of search results but at www.google.com.au I was able to see number of results also.

Because G consider all those results which has search term in them. The relevancy is made through the most well optimized site.

 

yeah, i can't see the number approx no of results on google dot com

Google does show number of results in the query suggestions box when you start typing.

 

I believe you are searching from other extension of google. In google.com it will show you word suggestions instead of approx search result.
