    I am not sure about other difference but in 32-bit OS you can use upto 4 GB RAM and on 64-bit OS you can use more RAM (not sure about exact figure but I think it is more than 128 GB).

    64bit can handle more calculations because of which it can handle more stuff than a 32bit but using 64bit with less ram is not a good idea so if u have good ram then only use a 64 bit

    CentOS is a linux based Operating System.

    I believe that 64 server would do you more justice if you have enough RAM for it.

    A 32 bit server can have roughly 8GB Max Ram and a 64 bit can have up to 16GB i believe.

    So, take a look at the above and choose :)

    You may be partly right there my friend.

    I know that a 32 bit Computer can have up to 8GB providing that its motherboard and OS support it.

    I do believe that 16GB is the 64 Bit Max.

    If you have shell access, you can also type the following:

    uname -a

    If you see something like x86_64, it is 64 bit OS.

    i686/i386 = 32-bit

    x86_64 = 64-bit

    so urs seems to be to 32

    so the only difference between 32 and 64 is the memory limit on 32 ? is there any other reasons to use 64 ? like application performance ? how is the appl. working under 64 ?

    32bit can handle upto 3.5GB normally and with PAE higher than that; 64bit can handle oodles of RAM.

    If your CPU is current generation and you have much RAM 4GB+ go for 64bit OS.
