I recently went to go post a thread in the Trade Your Services forum today. It stopped me and said I needed to pay $5 so I thought it was a mistake. I was wrong. They changed it to $5. Now, I could cope with the $20 for Sell Your Services and even the $5 for the Want To Buy thread but it has gone too far for the Trade Your Services. They really need to change that back or they'll lose a good amount of users. I know that people come there for more than just Trade Your Services but now it seems as if they are just getting greedy and trying to squeeze every penny out of the members. Thoughts? Opinions?
they are allways pushing the limits to see what people will buy, and if people will buy then they leave it and they earn away . i dont like sites that are all about profit(just wanna earn from you).
well I too realized yesteday when I went for link exchange. Though I could have easily paid $5 but felt not to do this because there were hardly any replies in any of the threads there. That section of forum is almost dead as compared to DP They should look back at there sub-forum first that whether it is even worth $5
I just noticed that Sitepoint.com is charging their members to pay $5 for the Trade Your Services forum. What the heck?!? Here on DigitalPoint, it's completely free. Why would anyone charge $5 for TYS when there is no exchange of $$$ to begin with. How silly.
I thought it used to be $20 a few weeks back. I wouldnt worry about it. Just sell elsewhere if $5 is a little too much for you.
No $20 is for the sell your site forum. Trade services used to be 100% free until a short while ago. Well we can expect traffic to sitepoint going up from all the sitepoint refugees I guess.
Hmm...I was unaware that it's been $5 for awhile. Regardless, it's silly to impose a fee whereby no money is exchanging hands to begin with.
Next, $100/mo to post in one of the rudest forums in the world? I'd thought they'd keep the TYS free atleast...and it was free the last time i posted there...but wow...Guess i'll just hang around DP more
well, i would have to say that the buyers there are more serious than most places... so it may be worth it trying to sell there even though they charge a fee.
:agree: I don't mind paying to sell my site but pay for Want to Buy and Trade Your Services? Hell no!
I asked if I could host the contest for phpLD site of the month there, and they told me that this did not seem something that would educational or helpful to their users, so they turned me down. Yet somehow it seems they are developing quite a bit that is a benefit to sitepoint financially, even if it is not educational.
I wouldn't really point names but as long as they have advisors that are there now be prepared for such responses. And oh talk of greed -- They will even let spammers promote themselves for cash -- http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=406015 and would not do so even when they very well know about it -- http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=406108.
