I'm curious if anyone has done well with parked domain names. Usually when I happen across one I almost sub-consciously ignore the page and go right back up to the URL/search bar and type something else in. I'm guessing this is the standard behavior for almost everyone, which in my view would make parking a domain a total waste. Please correct me if I'm wrong
About 1 in 50 people still fall for it and click so if you get enough traffic it could pay off. Parking is on the way out anyways, mini-sites and development are where it's at.
Nowadays it's becoming hard to monetize by parking a domain as set-and-forget. Unless, as thewebhostingdir stated, you own a strong typo or an awesome premium name. You need to develop it, visitors have evolved and aren't the same that in 1999 would happily click your sponsored links. Provide content, unique content and build your site for humans. Play fair with the search engines and they will send you some good organic traffic
Yeah, I bought 1met(dot)com and parked it for experiment.. a short 4 letter name with a word in it... I thought it should atleast do well... Turns out it got only 1 visitor/ day .. and barely any clicks I use Namedrive.. is that a good choice, by the way?
NameDrive is a pretty good parking company and to be honest, I don't see 1met.com doing well wherever it was parked. When thinking about purchasing domains to park, ask yourself beforehand if you believe people would just type that into their browser. I do see 4L.com's making pretty good money. I once had a 4L.com that would make at least $1 each day and that's pretty good considering it was XXWP.com. Many people also do get typo domains and try to profit that way.
Well I got it expired from Godaddy for $5, so I grabbed it without thinking much. I thinked it's impossible to get nice 4L, 5L nowadays without paying like $70+. Actually the sad part is... back when I was a noob (may be I still am!), I searched and bought like 5-10 domains with PR 3-5 for about $10 each, thinking that I got great deals.... only to find out later that.... it's fake page rank!! The domains aren't even worth the registration price
My experience is that it's a complete waste of time - there is just too much good content on the web these days to waste time parking domains.
If all you are going to do is park a domain, unless you are just saving it for resale, there is no reason for you to be in business on the web, It is the laziest, least effective way to call yourself making money. I agree with the above, if you can make money parking, think how much you could make if you actually put in some effort.
domain owners have realised that developing their asstets is far better than leaving them parked........
As many have said above. If the website domain name has enough traffit (roughly 100+ per day); then i believe something could be made but most (like myself) just look at it, see its not a site and close that TAB. I believe that a mini website would be the great idea. If you are not so good at coding or designing use a free website designer; Such as Site Studio. Regards, Mike
what ive experienced is , you can get one click per 20 visits if your domain gets more than 450,000 exact google searches per month! ive really experienced this with my domain SexyCanI dot com
I dont think that parked domains could make you much money, but just like above if you are getting a little bit out of it while it's still parked, imagine the benefits you could gain if it was developed
you can't make real money from Parking unless you have a great domain name like "loan.com" ofcourse none will have such domains or you have a real busy website and then decided to close it and park it somewhere then you may earn extra money for a month and then visitor stop coming so your earning stop too
Any buddy know what is the technical issue at http://registry.we.bs I have registered a free domain with we.bs but now i see no option to register a new free domain at we.bs have any one face this problem.
no but lol @ "we bs" they should turn the site into a forum instead of a web page host with that name.
We have a couple hundred domains that we registered for clients that never got used, the client left or died, or for whatever reason. I saw the Google Adsense for parked domains a few weeks back and have been meaning to give it a try. Some of those domains still get a couple hundred hits a day.
