Do you turn off at night?

Is it advisable to turn the computer off every night, looking for the general consenses.

 

I turn off my laptop / desktop whenever it is not needed for the next 30 minutes. My state government proclaims "electricity saved is electricity produced" and I am an ardent follower of the punch line.

 

Yes I turn off my laptop and desktop every night to lessen our monthly electric bill

 

The funny thing is this is generally a bad thing to do for a computer. Most power issues and hardware failures occur during startup or shutdown.

I leave my computers on 24/7 except my overheating laptop ...

I always turn off my computer when I am not working.

Day & night has no relation with it in my case.

 

My office computer is always ON during office hours as I am constantly at it during this time. My home PC is hardly ON for max. 3-4 hours and yes..I do shut it off as soon as I am ready to retire for the day!

Yes my desktop / laptops are always off when I'm not using them. It helps keep my electricity bill for the month low

 

i never turn it off it'sworking 24/7 except for overheating or to have some rest

huh thank god i moved room yesterday, if not then my desktop wasn't turn off for days or maybe weeks

 

Thanks DP members, a fair cross section, seems it does not hurt to turn them off and on regularly.

 

I always do when I am not using it! It save at least some electricity for others.

Unless you're cheap or have a noisy rig it's pointless to turn off your computer.
