Digg users are tech-saavy, and tech-saavy people dont click on ads. I doubt they make more than 10k/day.
Consider it they have 250 K members which probably view a bunch of pages per visit so lets say about 1.5 visits a day and about 10 pageviews per visit, that is already like 3.75 million pageviews a day, not to mention probably that they get a majority of there traffic from feeds syndication, SEs, and links which I would estimate accounts for atleast 60% if not more of their daily traffic, so that means about 9-10 million impressions/day. Now there ads are CPM so CTR is probably not a big issue for them they probably average around .50 CPM but we'll calculate with .40 CPM to try to capture the real number... That would equal to atleast $4,000/day.... But I would think it is much more this is an estimate of only the AdSense there is probably other things they are making money off... Also I think there CTR could actually be relatively good, as I have sometimes clicked there ads when I normally never do... My estimate would be around $15,000/day as they probably get a lot more traffic then I estimated it is probably more like 25 million page views a day and they also probably get atleast a .50 CPM considering they are premium... BTW: BoingBoing makes $50K/month just to compare a bit. Emil
I would love to know. I'm jealous of their ad format (would like to have the rollover effect on my site).
