Hope Google will come up with a better algorithm, there are many times they've updated it yet many deserving sites suffer...
SERPs are always changing, its just that you're checking the website too often that you're noticing the frequent changes in SERPs. Its routine work and natural for the website to fluctuate in SERPs. Continue your work and give yourself a time, constant ranking will take time
Same is the case here, Both my sents lost SERPs, one site cam back to normal after 10 days, but for the other (my main site) its been over 10 days now.
Yes, u r right, regular update content, and build some high pr backlinks will get your site again in serps.....
hmm, sometimes it happens due to Google Dance. But you should also keep check your server log and see if your hosting suddenly blocks up Google bot from visiting.
cannot rely on gg - big brother always has his idea to improve... mayb SERP is dancing. not yet finished.
my site is up and down at the moment. I dont think this change is over yet. hopefully I will finish on top.
You know what the same thing happened to me, I was on page 1 for my main keyword 'free iphone 3gs' and I dropped to page 5 =O
Sure! You'll get the top position. The difference will continue if google wants to do. Change will definitely come againg with goo position if you continue your work with some good content and link building.
Its Google Update. It has been started since one month before. And not settled yet. Google might have updated its Link and PR algo. And i think Google has also improved its Duplicate content filter. The main target of this updates been some average websites which have PR around 3-4 with backlinks 1000 to 10,000 (This is just observation). For last more than one month Google SERPs showing tremendous fluctuation. I have seen some speculation that Google bettering itself so that Bing can not affect the monopoly of Google. But not sure is it really because of Bing or just a usual Google Update. What i concluded from this update is that only legitimate SEO work will give you long lasting result in Google. Stop spamming and crap work (getting links from irrelevant sources) instead do more quality content oriented work.
Looks to me that Google will also be taking the input of its users to determine SERPs. Notice that occasionally you see arrows in the search results? You can increase the relevance of the items that come out- or strike those you deal irrelevant. That could make the job of SEOs harder
Google is killing me. My most important sites went down. On of them was 1st for two keywords and now is on the 51 and 52 places. It is 4 years old site. Other was on 3rd and 5rd places for two keywords(for about one year) and now is on 415 and 429. It is strange that I have some very similar sites (design and structure) with those penalized but they were not penalized yet. I can not find any criteria for this filter.
I hope bing turns out to be a fair contender for google and the webmasters have one more avenue of getting traffic to their websites. Things will take time. My sites keep falling and rising on google and its' quite natural. Thousand upon thousands of SEOs are trying to do their job you know.
As others have said, in the UK at least, serps have been all over the place the last couple of weeks. My main sites are holding up well for established keywords but my newer sites are moving around a lot. The new algo seems to favour older sites, even if they don't have as much fresh content and links. People have got good at throwing up a site with lots of content and building 1000's of links in a short space of time, and I think Google is trying to combat this. Hopefully they will find a middle ground, which is where most good sites lay in my opinion.
Give it some time, don't panic, don't make any drastic changes in response .. yet. See if the changes hold over the next few weeks. In the meantime, think about anything you've done that may have caused the problems, and form a new strategy in preparation.
