    In my site i am facing Canonical issues.so can i use like this tag for my site.
    <link rel="canonical" href="http://www.example.com/product.php?item=swedish-fish" />

    I think best is to use .htaccess if you are on linux server. For windows server there are some methods you can do it as well very easily.

    Hey 2yrs back i have went on CGI and bought windows server but it was pain so i switched back to Linux .

    As I came across your post today, So would like to educate myself what are methods which can help windows server , Please let me know , Thanks

    This is fine, but as guys already mentioned that .htaccess is more better option.
