Yes... Google does not really like 1 page sites... Besides a single page should only rank for one keyword phrase (maybe 2 or 3 if they are VERY similar as in different by only one word). Google may see your site as a thin affiliate site which they don't like.
The number of pages of a site is a factor on how Google gives weight to it. The more indexed pages and quality contents you have, the better. Creating multiple pages is also good to rank in different keywords.
yes...for maximum rankings you want a min of 6 pages on your site with at least 200 words on each and you want to optimize each page with a maximum of 2 keywords all relevant to your main keyword. Also for best results you want all page to link to each other with those keywords, the more incoming links that are relevant to your site the better but remember quality over quanity here.

You will need more pages to get a better PageRank. More pages means more indexed pages and links and higher PageRank. Make sure the anchor text of your links help in your SEO efforts and there is structured inlinking between your pages. Set your main keyword as bold text.
