I don't think your EPC would be any higher because a visitor came from Google, but it seems that organic traffic (visitors arriving from search engines) are more likely to click ads than repeat visitors.
i would rather have 100k unique visitors from msn than google. Since the most people that uses msn, don't know how to change homepage (my own experience) So.. = not as techy = Higher click rate
I agree 100% with BribeMe, my traffic from MSN converts much better than Google traffic. I'm talking ratios, because my traffic from google is leaps and bounds over what MSN sends me.
I've been doing a little study the past few weeks and this is what I've come up with. The percentages are of unique visitors who clicked adsense ads: Organic Traffic: 0.39% Direct Traffic: 0.76% Referral Traffic: 1.27% CPC Traffic (Search Network): 6.69% CPC Traffic (Content Network): 14.29% [This is why arbitrage works soooo well] This has nothing to do with the EPC, but might help you decide what traffic to focus on.
It will not have any bearing whether they came from Google, Yahoo, or MSN. However, what could have bearing on cost perl click is the nationality of the visitor. A product aimed at the US market for Americans is likely to have more value if the vistor is American than say he is from French Guyana.
It all pays the same but as a couple of posters have already suggested, the type of visitors that use MSN are different from those that use Yahoo and from those who use Google. Personally, I think MSN users are a better fit for my web site, and I would love to have their traffic, but they don't rank my site as well as Google. I have a number of pages on my site that rank #1 in Google for primary keywords, but the same pages can't be found anywhere in top five pages of MSN search results.
Oops, the ratios for CPC traffic is a lot more than what i expected! Can anybody confirm this? Is this a general behaviour?
People that found your website while searching from are most likely to click your adsense ads especially when its related to their searches and that they can't find what they are looking for on your website.
yea that was i thinking traffic from msn is better than google as i think most are from US And europe
I have a site getting 1000+ unique a day from google search but ctr is only 3-5 percent while I have another site which most of the traffic are from yahoo and the ctr is 10-15 percent. I am not sure if this is coinsidence but I have 4 sites now that most of the traffic are from yahoo and they all performing better that the other 1.
