    Has anybody used green power?
I have seen some companies (aspnix.com, for instance) offer it in their plans, I would like to try but I don't know how effective it is.

Automatic Transfer Switches ensure smooth transition to backup power

24-hour back-up generator - enough capacity to power more than 1,500 homes 99.999% power availability

You can get in touch with them and ask what they mean by that. I suppose they should know about that for sure

Usually it means the hosting company buys power from renewable energy sources, for example Wind Turbines, or Solar Panels etc. Some also put Solar Panels or Turbines on the top of the datacenter roofs, and any power that is not used is sold back to the power grid.

I don't see where it states that ASPnix.com uses green power though.

Nice job. It's not easy being green where power consumption comes into play - I'm head of a the IT department at my main job, our IT budget has been cut for next year which means we're about £1k short of what we need. We've also been given the mission of lowering the carbon footprint of nearly 500 PC's, Laptops and Servers around the building; it's not going to be a easy task.

Do you have your own DC? Can you please PM more information about it as can't seem to find info about your providers etc on your site. Thanks. ;)

Anything new we build is built using Green power supplies and other lower energy consuming parts. Anything that breaks gets replaced with these greener parts as well, thus eventually making everything green.

You'd have to look at http://hostdrive.com for that info. We own and operate our own facility.
