Agreed, slow. I would change the placement to float and flow within the content and not just above it. Something like this http://cichlid-care.com/how-to-care-for-african-cichlids/ Also, change your permalinks.
why don't you place your google adsense on the right hand sides or in the middle of your post to increase your google ads visibility?
