Everyone likes to talk about how they made it big with their website(s).

How many of your sites were failures?

I would say I had 2-3 failed sites before doing it right.

I don't think anyone hits it big with their first site. You have to start somewhere, and I like to think that I have learned something new with every new site that I have created.

That being said, hopefully I don't have to create 100 sites before I hit it big!

I had success with my first site, but it was a proxy site that I bought from someone who had already established traffic for it. I recently tried to capitalize on rap music and failed miserably due to lack of interest.

So far my first one out the gate has fallen flat. But as I read topics on this forum it has been because I just did not know how to make it work, nor did I know that..."hey you have to work...to make money in the internet!" lol what a surprise. I think I can turn this one around and try another one too.

By the way it it nice to hear the "other side" of the business....not all that "you can be rich by doing nothing" bull.

I would say zero. I feel like as long as they pay for themselves its fine. Generating enough income to pay for the site/time is really not hard to do. Of course I have some sites that far exceed my expectations, which is nice, but there are a handful that have not done as well as I hoped but I still consider them worth doing ;-)

Never really had any that were failures. Some were less popular than others but when I first started I learned a lot from those.

I remember I created a fairly popular forum a year or two ago, got a bunch of members, then I had to go on vacation for a week and when I came back it had died out. Since then I have created another forum in the same niche (in my sig), made sure to learn from my mistakes and now it's going great.

It always helps to stay as positive as possible and visualize a great return. :)

Had one big failure before: a website to disinfect people's computer. Never had the necessary traffic and wasn't making enough money for the effort provided.

But hey, I learned from that experience!

First one was not a total failure but i lost interest in it and it turned into something else which was/is a big success.

Since then I have created many small sites some of which support it and some of which stand alone.

Most other than the 1 successful one are stuff I never get too serious about so not sure if they can be qualified as failures but not all of them are incredibly successful either.

I think there are degrees of success. I have never lost financially on a website but I have invested far more time then I have gained financially in a number

But everyone has taught me something in how to work smarter. Whilst I am far from being 'there' I have taken a step in the right direction each time. I have ditched my first two sites but other than that I feel all are heading in the right direction moneywise

I wouldnt say any where a failure , mearly a learning curve as you get more experienced. I Know as ive made sites through out the years i started some and then realised that it wasnt worth putting time and money into , then i moved to the next venture. Non i would call a failure.
