Hello, What do I need to do to get 1,000 uniques within a 5 month period? I am willing to do anything I can do get that goal. I run a Computer-Help site with free tools to fix/protect your computer. I think it is something that everyone will need at one time and has great potential. I add tools on a regular basis, and it should be going into all major search engines soon. What can I do to advertise it more, and to get backlinks? Thanks
First of all how much traffic do you have now? Second, if you are trying to get traffic via the search-engine route, what keywords are you targeting? Do those keywords drive enough traffic to get you to 1k visitors per day? What ways other than search engines did you want to use to get 1k visitors per day? MySpace? Banner Ads? Link Exchange? PPC? Also, how much money are you willing to spend? There are always some free methods of getting traffic and then there are paid ways as well. Money doesn't give you traffic, but it does give you flexability in how you can gain traffic.
I get anywhere from 140-300 uniques a day on average. I am targetting traffic anyway that is possible. I am targetting key phrases like "computer cleaup" or "free antivirus tools", etc. I'd guess those words drive in 1k visitors, where can I check? I have banner ads that users can place, I have done some link exchanges, will do more. I am willing to spend a litte (Under $40) in advertising, if that would help me. Try and get your own tool or set of tools developed and then you can bring in mega traffic by getting it listed with download sites. Really it seems you are just offering lists of tools, no reviews, no rating, no commentary. If you are getting "140-300 uniques a day on average" that is really good for that type of site IMO. good luck
Hire a pro SEO and get good rankings on top searches, they charge about $1,000+ but you can get 100,000 highly targeted visitors a month. If you cannot afford that consider purchasing seoelite ( they have a great free ecourse; which will teach you everything you need to know about seo, and you don't even need to buy the software!) Also consider viral marketing in 6 months you can expect up to 3,000/day coming to your site from viral marketing if you do it right!
Make lots of unique content up for your topic, you can either write it yourself or there are plenty of cheap writers (even here on dp) who will do it for you. You can figure out how many people search for particular keywords by using the overture suggestion tool (inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/). Its hard to give a definitive answer though, but once you have created some original articles you can then submit them to a list of free article websites (seocrawl.com/article-submission-list.php) as a method of viral marketing.
one of my sites has been u for 2 months and I get a stedy amount of 1000+ uniques a day...goes up and down but still alwasy over 1k good marketing I guess

Okay off the top of my head -PPC (5,000 Month) -Search engine optimization (up to 200,000/mth) -Press Releases (HUGE NUMBERS) -Articles submission (up to 20,000/mth) -Viral marketing (60,000/mth) -Offline marketing (Varys) -Ezine Solo ads (varys) -Sig files in Forums (3,000 month) -Powerlinking (10,00 month) These figures aren't usaul and are what the gurus get, but if you study each of them and learn from the gurus you'll be able to get similar results. Plus theres tons more; they all require tons of work and if you don't know what they mean just google them and use "define: keyword" and it'll give you a range of dictionary definitions. A successful site spreads its marketing plan into most of them; don't just rely on one method, remember multiple streams of income- or your setting yourself up for disaster!
Didn't you initially have this marked down as 5 days instead of 5 months? 5 months is plenty of time to build 1k uniques/day organically.

Do a search around this forum for press releases. I've done a critique or two publicly (I'm a Public Relations professional, so it's one of my specialties) that you might be able to find, and there are lots of tips here from a lot of people.
