    Hey DPer's,
I've rencently bought a subscription based site and clueless on how to market it. It's not like a normal site like a blog or forum that has accessable content. There is a tour that explains everything the site provides. Not made for link exchanges or a place for links to be added. The niche is very expensive (finance) to buy advertising.
The only ways I see are article submissions, paid links/banners,blog posts paid/non paid.
Some directories don't like these kind of sites (subscription based). Social BookMarking is to general I think.
The site does have a myspace and Facebook profile already.

Oh Yeah the price is cheap for subscription $4.95 a month and the first 30 days are free.

Anyone have any experience with subscription based site's?

    Thanks

Article marketing is one way to go, i would find a large collection of finance based PLR articles and re-write them (or pay someone else too) and then submit them to all the article directories. You can then use these articles to create pages at Squidoo, Hubpages, Tumblr, Webs, Zimbio etc, This will also help to generate traffic.

Finally, find some related forums and create a good signature promoting your site and get posting in those too, you can also pay someone to do this for you.

    Hope that helps

There is a heavy competition in finance niche and as you said ppc advertising would be really expensive.
As the other member said here you can try article marketing along with the following:

    a) Promotion thru Social Bookmarking Site
    b) Buying blog reviews from high traffic site (relevant to your site's niche)
    c) Promote your products thru some affiliate programs (in this method you pay only when someone subscribes to your site).
    d) Do Email Marketing and highlight on the 30 days free trial offer.

Do you know of an affiliate site to join. I tried CJ and you have to have $50,000 in monthly sales to be accepted.

I've never tried email marketing but always wanted to try it. Don't know where to find a good email marketing company. Have you tried any with success?

Wouldn't Bookmarking be too general or could it be targeted for just my niche?

    Thanks

Just looked at Awstats on Cpanel and have 30% hits on favicon. That's the highest I've ever had. People like the site but to get them to signup is a different story.

I've had several people tell me it would be a great site for an affiliate program. But the monthly price is too low at $4.95. The precieved value might not be that good at such a low price. What's a normal price range per month for a site with an affiliate program $49.95 a month?
Anyone know how to make an affiliate program for a site? Any books I could read to learn?

    Thanks
