As we know, PR is all about mass calculation. So, if Google changes PR more often, it means one or more things in the following must be true: 1: Google has much more CPU power than before 2: PR algorithm has been changed or compromised 3: Google only calculation potion of urls compare before 4: Google can update PR more often if they want, now they just did which one do you think?
NON of the above. for internal use they calculate the PR of each page very frequently we only see a tool bar update when they want us to see one.... they sometimes just let us see it more often sometimes.... If they wanted to export the PR to show on the tool bar weekly or even twice a week they probably could.
I agree with vagrant. The PR actually update in time, just the PR tools bar not showing the update result immediately.
It is a well known fact that they did have internal PR changed as often as the serps, but I fail to understand what prompted them to export the result on the front end...ever so often? Even the updates assigned are relatively lesser stable with the day of the update assigning very huge jump in some cases, only to be withdrawn at a later date. Regards, RightMan
I think the BIG reason for quick update is "PR algorithm has been changed or compromised". Am I correct?
I am second for that. Google surely changed their PR algo so now no one can predict when they update PR (15 days,month,2 month .....). They continously working on things to confuse webmasters DON.
If you read the PR white book, the original treatise carefully, to calculate PR for every page they index from whole internet is a very very very big process and need calculate same thing for multiple times. I agree they calculate individual pages frequently, but they cannot calculate whole PR system frequently. If they update whole PR system frequently do happen, either they have BIG BIG CPU power, or they compromise the algorithm and not calculate as many times as before. Just a thought.
Yes, Google seams to be ahcnging the whole algo. PR is just a part of the visible changes, nofollow another part, etc.
I think "PR algorithm has been changed or compromised" that's why Google PR update is become frequently...
OK. I agree that 2: PR algorithm has been changed or compromised... IMO, they waste energy to do those calculation too often, increasing the risk of global warming...
This would have been about the time for the "normal" 3 month update. The recent one, 3 or 4 weeks ago happened at the start of a largish SEO conference the Matt Cutts attended, probably to create more google buzz/talk and possibly because of all the talk about Bing. If they could get the SEO conference members talking about the PR update they had less time to chat to each other about Bing
I suspect a lot of it is publicity. Bing is getting headlines at the minute, and look, they update PR (which they could do as often as they like) and everyone gets their knickers in a twist and start posting all over forums like this one! Its called marketing.
thefandango, Google can use this for their publicity. Many bloggers like me blog about Google once they does a PR update. I have blogged about this PR update in my sulumits retsambew master blog . Lalucochin
God knows what google is thinking and why they are doing it, maybe they are feeling a bit pressure from bing so they are changing their ways.
I have to say, You guys so funny However, it probably and very very reasonable. I think DP should start a BING forum under "search engines"
