    *laugh*

The soup kitchen may elect to re-evaluate their acceptance criteria once the soup runs out.

Or they can hire The Soup Nazi! ;)

A typical ultra right wing ultra conservative, typical non-thinking strategy is to take one picture, as in this example, or 1 example of one person abusing the "system" and then to attack some of the most beneficial elements that make this nation great.

Hmansfield speaks eloquently to the issues in life that may put people in a bad way and then the opportunities that exist that allow people to bounce back. These are backbones that help make this country great. It has historically been the single place in the world that emphasizes opportunity.

The ultra conservative right wing would kill all of these opportunities, safety net features. They typically label anyone on the downside of life as a loser and use it as an example to rid the country of any expenditure on helping people.

We see lots of examples in this forum. Additionally we see incredible examples of this from the "leadership" of the ultra right and the ultra right political class.

Now it appears one of these speakers on behalf of the ultra right has been caught, once again, with his pants down; Mark Sanford.

This guy wanted to refuse federal funds that would help people who had lost their jobs and help education. The Supreme Court of South Carolina had to overrule him to get those funds.

Now it appears, that after mysteriously disappearing on his family and the state, and lying about it in a variety of ways (appalachian mountains/taking a drive along the Argentina coast)--it seems that the guy could be having an affair with another woman. Secretly of course. By the way, he secretly left his wife and kids over Father's Day weekend. Great father, huh?

Hostlonestar defended the guy, albeit before further revelations come out that the guy might be having an affair.

The guy walked out on the state whose taxpayers pay his salary, walked out on the state national guard, of which he is in charge, leading them leaderless, and most intrinsically walked out on his wife and family.

This guy is one of the political leaders who practises the ultra extremist radical right wing philosophy of not wanting to help any Americans in trouble...and mouthes off with some political horsesh!t about it.

Well the guy looks like he is political toast going forward. I feel badly for his family.

Meanwhile if you are complaining about some poor people eating at a soup kitchen, which isn't typically federally government sponsored, maybe big mouth Mark Sanford should take the $2,000, which represents about 1 week of his salary...and either give it back directly to the tax payers in South Carolina...or donate it to a soup kitchen in South Carolina.

You seem to excel with generalizations, earlpearl. Care to delve into some typical ultra left wing, ultra liberal, typical non-thinking strategies while you're at it, or would you just like to beat on more specific individuals?

Last I checked, some people still dislike snarky labels and value judgements, and no one is perfect. ;)

The Governor had the responsibility to be in communication or leave the Lt. Gov in charge during his absense.

South of the border, it's common for wealthy men to have a wife and a mistress.

Current examples of Republican leadership have wrapped morality around their party's position. The leadership of the party and some of the religeous leaders they connect with have proven to be, time and again, the worst of hypocrites. Mark Sanford is the latest example.

BTW: Sanford called for Clinton to resign. What should Sanford do? He started an affair, walked out on his wife and kids, has been a loud voice for morality and fiscal responsibility; used a taxpayer paid for car to drive to the airport to go to Argentina, left the state in a lurch with no contacts. His aides either outright lied or didn't know where he was, the state National Guard was left leaderless.

If the guy worked for a business...he would be fired. No questions asked. Its that simple.

As to Bogart's comments. He didn't leave anyone in charge. He went missing on his own accord.

And south of the border....LOL. which border.

And to Hostlonestar who supported Mark Sanford...and referenced that he worked hard to get where he is.

Hey dude. He married a very very very rich woman.

Now clearly Dem big mouth pols do the same cr@p. Elliot Spitzer is the latest.

The Dems didn't wrap themselves up in a high level of morality tieing it in with a religeous wing.

The GOP takes the cake for hypocracy.

Which reminds me of an old joke...extremely relevant in this day and age.

How do you know when a right wing conservative is lying?

When his mouth is flapping. :D

I have to agree. In that situation, I would hold on to my phone until the last possible moment. There is just no way to get back up again if you can't be contacted for work, nor will anyone even consider you. I don't care if it meant eating top ramen, and hot dogs (or soup kitchens) for weeks.

No phone, no work. What ever it takes to keep it...giving plasma, day labor, odd jobs for cash..you can pay the bill, or buy a pre paid phone card for relatively cheap (one days cheap labor).

A $15 pre paid card with minutes on it, or $15 worth of food...I'll take the phone until I am absolutely starving.

Elliot Spitzer is a case upon itself as he was involved in illegal activity.

South Carolina was in no danger that Gov Sanford was not available. The SC Constitution clearly spells out that the Lt. Gov can take over in an emergency should the Gov. be unvailable.

Gov. Stanford messed up in that he didn't leave anyone in charge.

Most people are one paycheck away from being homeless and many of them have blackberrys. On top of that people have cameras everywhere, I'm surprised we don't see a picture of a homeless person with a $600 iPhone.

That probably explains why they are one paycheck away...

You don't see any homeless people with $600 iPhone's cause iPhones don't cost $600.... In fact, they are under $100 ATM.

Plus people with Mac's tend to afford to pay for the finer things in life.:D

    Only on contract.

Let me rephrase that for you: Plus people with Mac's tend to afford to overpay for the finer things in life.:D

Doubtful... My Mac probably cost less too.

Must be nice living in the 80's all the time... These last few statements explain a lot.
