Hi Everyone, I'm curious what kind of experience everyone else has had with PPC. I'm experimenting with it right now (on Yahoo, but I'm looking at Google as well). I am advertising a high-gravity money-making program from ClickBank (MaverickMoneyMasters). I point directly to their landing page. So far, ClickBank shows 144 clicks and 0 transactions/earnings. Is this typical? Does PPC even work? Also, my clickthrough rate is .02%. Is that average? I've so far spent about $60 with nothing to show for it. Thanks.
Yes, you can make pretty good money with ppc. Some people make thousand of dollars a day with ppc. For instance, with AdSense you can make lots of money if the content of your site is good. You can earn up to $10 per click with Google AdSense on average with good content.
hey you will never get anywhere like that - the PPC engines like it if you have your Own Domain Name with Content - if you are just linking to your affiliate page you are going to get screwed kid dont be so lazy - take the time and set up a legit Review page and link to that - you will get much better results!
Black Hat methods on marketing ppc using some methods is not a very good way, because you may get banned from an ad network such as AdSense. If the find something suspicious, they will bank you.
yeah, as john3003 said, you need to set up your own landing page - if you do this you'll: 1) be able to tweak to get better conversion rates 2) be able to get a better QS - which will lead to lower cpc and higher avg pos Also, 0.02% is a very low CTR for the search network, but for the content network it's about average. The search network costs more but it's where the real traffic and money is at - the content network is very cheap, but pay peanuts and you get monkeys...
OK, that's the end of my little experiment. 3 days, $130 (which only bought me 125 clicks) and $0.00 in sales. Oh, and the .02% click-through rate WAS on the search network - in fact I deactivated the content network entirely because I didn't want junk traffic. And the ad was one that I had seen on Google, several times, with one or two words changed. I'm giving up now...
Fair enough, with my only comment being - adwords can generate a lot of profit, but next time you'll need to approach it with a larger budget and be prepared to lose a bit more money getting more than 125 clicks to determine what works for you
You nearly spent $1/click for direct linking to merchant. Maybe with same amount of budget you could have tried cheaper long tail keywords.
What kind of program would you suggest? I'm willing to spend more money, but I just don't want to throw good money after bad. Does anybody have an example of an ad/landing page that they've actually made money with (even if it's old and not being used anymore)? I'm just trying to learn this stuff and example of something that has made money would help.
You don't learn by spending money in this game. I suggest a ton of reading at forums like Sitepoint or here at DP. What you're doing takes a very high level of skill imho. I been doing this for a decade and buying clicks to convert is very tough. One truth is that content is king. One lie is that you can make a quick easy buck on the internet. Good luck.
A good suggestion and with own landing pages instead of direct linking, you can often cut down the price alot since you don't have to outbid others doing direct linking as well. Direct linking is really pointless if there is competition doing direct linking for the same site with the same keywords.
Breaking down keywords in to groups will help a lot too. If you just place a bunch of keywords into one group they should not be mixed all over the board.
