I have a blog also i have been using twitter to advertise it but i dont get how this backlink thing works? is backlinks how many results come up on google on google i have 289 results. second how do you get ranked higher on google and get your blog going. Im using blogger but for some reason i have no followers. 105 followers on twitter. http://dailycashsaver.blogspot.com/ Give me advice what am i doing wrong.
Your blog is less than a week old, how can you expect to have a lot of followers or traffic in such a short time? I don't believe you have 289 backlinks or your checking the your backlink the wrong way, go to backlinkwatch[dot]com to check if you really have backlinks and yes your blog is less then a week old, your first post was Friday, June 19, 2009 please do use the search function on how to make more backlinks and get more traffic

use the 'link:' command in google when you search. Or yahoo, for that matter. Then you'll see what the real state of play is.
Backlinks can be considered as doors leading into your house. The more doors you have leading into your house, the more likely it is for you to get visitors to your house. Same thing with websites.
Get decent links back from other sites, thats what a backlink is, your link on someone elses site. BTW waxman1000 I would be rather worried if 22000 visitors turned up on my door step a month
I would try doing some SEO to your blog, write some articles to ezinearticles, goarticles, articledashboard etc, social bookmark all your pages using socialmarker.com, social bookmark your articles to.
If I have backlinks from friends websites and I link back to theirs, that is a reciprocal link and is to be avoided at all costs, from what I understand. But if 3 of us get together and A links to B, B links to C, and C links to A, none of us have a reciprocal link, right. Can we get away with that, or is it likely to get busted by google?
You have to comment on blogs, submit your blog to directories and use as forum signature on forums to increase backlinks of your Blog.
