My site is getting redesigned and will be using static web pages and SEO friendly URLs when completed as the current structure is terrible. I have some pretty good standings in a lot of SERPs and thought it would be interesting to see how much the structure of a URL actually effects SERPs. So I am going to test some of my categories while the site is being remade using static pages and 301 redirecting the current URLs to the appropriate static pages. So one would be going from: http://www.homecomputergames.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3 TO: http://www.homecomputergames.com/pc-games/ as it should have been since the site started. I'll test a few categories so I can get an average on the results. What kind of effect do you think this will have in the SERPs? some, good, bad, none? Thanks, HCG
I think you would see some drops at the beginning, then they would get the rank back possibly better. Keywords on url helps a great deal. You made the right decision.
