looking for a domain name for my dating site.anyone have any ideas been looking for awhile now but all names i choose are taken. any help would be appreciated Thanks
How about loosedating (dot com)? It could be a dating site for people with "loose" morals who are looking to hook up for a fling. Here is a good question. If the site name you really want is not available, but you could get the .net version, do you go ahead? Or, should you keep thinking until you come up with a name that is not taken and then buy up all the domains with this name? You can buy some really good domain names if you are looking to concentrate your efforts in the US. There are tons of .us domains available with really premium key words. Or, do you come up with your own very unique name and hope it catches on? One example: I really, really wanted the domain chatcity(dot com). Both the .com and the .net are currently for sale, but going for huge, huge, huge amounts of money. Obviously, since this would be a really premium name. I turned around and purchased the .us version for like $8.00. I figure this would be cool because I would be gearing it for an American audience anyhow. Wise decision or blunder?
You left out the most important thing: What kind of a dating site is it? To be able to compete with the other more popular and top-ranking dating sites you need to separate yourself from the rest of the pack. LooseDating.com could be an option but are those search terms way to competitive for the market and do those same search terms get enough searches on any given month? Can you create a specific purpose that doesn't have your prospective viewers and readers guessing with LooseDating.com? Those are the types of questions you need to answer for yourself before jumping in with both feet on the ground.
I would recommend you have you choice based on the short and memoranle domain names. They should be remembered if you are really want your prospective web site be popular. Good luck
Deciding between a short, cool and memorable name and a name that contains your keywords can be a tough decision. As of today, I think Google still gives you points if you have your keywords in your domain, but I really hope this eventually changes. What you get are sites that use tons of hyphens like: free-singles-dating ... Who's going to remember all that the next time they want to visit the site. Sorry, as I know I'm probably stepping on some toes right now. Imagine if Facebook was considering SEO when deciding their name. What would it look like: Freesocialnetworkingforharvardstudents (dot com). Facebook was initially intended for students at Harvard and eventually went viral, just in case your wondering what that was all about. I would probably suggest a unique cool name. However, just make sure that people can both spell it and remember it. Good luck.
You might consider creating a info product to teach people how to meet men/women and sell it for ~$50 or so on clickbank or another network. Dating networks are hard to build and get people interacting on. Either way, put a high to medium search volume keyword in your domain name so you can rank well for one good keyword with your homepage (then a bunch of long tail keywords with the rest of your pages).
