If you've had other people helping you create this program (since it was open source), then you should probably ask them how they feel about it too to avoid any lawsuits.

In simple words (am not going in details)

GPL - yes you can sell, if all parts of software are under GPL
LGPL - You can sell but you will have to put sourcecode open.

    regards

Open source do not mean freeware.
Yes, you can sell your software.

Usually you can sell the program as long as you release the open source part of the source code.

you can sell the program with open source code means you have to share the source code.

Yes you may sell your program, with the following comments/conditions.

You may NOT place any restrictions (other than those imposed by the GPL) on the buyers.

You must distribute the entire source code, not just the GPLed part.

The buyers can give away what they bought, including your code, without your permission.

It is considered poor form to sell GPLed code, especially if your contribution is small relative to the entire package.

It is acceptable to give away the program and sell service contracts/maintenance/customizations etc.

Few more cents (I think there is a little misunderstanding going between GPL and LGPL):

The talk must go on GPL not LGPL actually. With the part that is GPL you need to keep that open(only GPL part of software), not rest of your code. See fellow Zellach's post.

So, you are not bound to supply entire source code if certain part of your code is under GPL (as far I studied it once again).

Secondly, if software is based on LGPL then you are bound to supply the sourcecode, and not an obligation to provide with installer but alternatively point users to a sourcecode archive on a web address, or may be intaller downloads it on demand.

    I hope it helps.
