Hi, i need some help, can you explain why on google.com am on a position and on google.co.uk a totally different position, for the same keywords? Thanks
Because some of the people (website owners) are targeting specific regions that's why it have different result..
co.uk will priortize the regional UK website as it is meant for geographical search as primary so TLD's with co.uk will show up higher its obvious Its geo targetting ...............
You know very good question my website has the best ranking in google's .uk, .ca, and .in usually a couple spots above my position in google.com my site is located in the US. Perhaps it is who is linking to you, I have been listed by a couple of indian blogs and directories in the UK.
Problem is that i need a better position on google.com All i did was to add links on directories and pligg sites. Question is if i added more on uk websites will lower my position on google.com??
If you added backlinks from uk websites they would have a positive impact on your search engine positions.
so if i change from webmaster tools the location to united states, all links added from all around the globe will improove my position on google.com ?
Could you give a reference about this? I was not aware and I would like to get information. For the rest, Google tries to provide better results depending of the physical location of the searcher. I am wondering if this really works well. I know it works well for the Google locale. I found many stores with it in my area. For the other searches, I heard it depends on the server location hosting the website. Very often, websites are not hosted where the targeted market is. Does anyone have more information about the server locations issue?
Yes, and remember also that Google positioning can sometime be volatile. You're on page 2 one day in one region (while you're on 3 in another region) and several days later it may be vise-versa. Plus there is always the regional targeting aspect of advertisers, so your results may differ from that as well.
Most websites appear different in searches on google.co.uk and google.com, it depends if you are targeting a certain countr, for example if your uk based then you want to be higher on google.co.uk rather than the .com
It depends on you actually.. If you want to target on an specific region might as well use the specific region..
Basic they are serving tow different countries Two places have different presidents and they have different news topics and idols. They could target different DCs too. ^^
The bottom line is who are you targetting? If you want to engage a worldwide audience google.com is probably more important however if you simply want to engage with the UK public then google.co.uk is the one to chase. Having said that it's easier said than done as you will need to be finding links within your geographic region to get the best results.
I agree it depends on your audience that you have in mind, Th US audience is catered for on Google.com so I believe thats the one you should work on more.
