PR means nothing!

PR is important when you are selling links!

So if you have a site with PR 5 and above ...you can make good money buy selling links!

PR i see as just a broad measure of how well your going with inbound links, link relevancy etc

 

i hear this being said over and over so we know pr dosnt have any thing to do with serps! so the fucking ? is what effects serps?

PR matters quite a bit. Especially if you are selling links.

 

PR definitely matters, however, it's only ONE factor out of possibly hundreds that determine a website's ranking. Also, as mentioned above, it's great for squeezing more money out of your domain.

 

Yeah - Google will find out and maybe will can your site. PR matters, but not to that extent

Link text, relevent content to link text relationship, quality of linked sites (the good neighbourhood theory), uniqueness of content, quality of content.

It is easier to think of what negatively effects your SERPS: broken links, broken images, poor or scraped content, poor relevency of links, obviously bought links etcetcetc

 

This is a very nice thread.
I do agree with the generally accepted notion that PR is a broad gauge for a site's credibility. There are of course tons of other variables affecting PR but it sure is useful for someone who wants to assess a website for business reasons such as advertising.
Above all, it's a pretty cool concept

 

PR means something. At least you can better your friends' site like: "I got higher PR than yours"

It is just too overrated.

You can do that but what now? At least there is a business for selling high PR pages so it's not a hopeless bragging rights.
