Need advice - 100k pageviews and 148 clicks = 14 euros

    Hello,

I've started using google adsense a week ago and the report mentions 100k page impressions along with 148 clicks.

The overall result is not very impressive considering that the site nearly reaches half-million pageviews per month.

Our site is this one - hxxp://boot-land.net

    --------

If we're not allowed to discuss these details of adsense here I can remove the details, but I get the feeling that this is not normal.

    What is your opinion?

    Thank you.

    :)

i only see adbrite on your site.
you are more than likely not having good placement, but if you are getting 500k a month you should be able to sell CPM ads pretty successfully

nop i think it's good. 148 click and 14 euro is ok! The normal price and long lasting.

I see your site I think u need some improvement about your adsense placement. Then u will get more clicks.

    Thanks for the replies.

Adbrite will display the google ads whenever it doesn't has an eCPM that matches the value that I specified - on this case 1USD.

I might try out Kontera soon.

Normally forum CTR is low compare to website or blog but your CTR is too low.
Your ads placement is bad, i need to roll down to see it, better add another ads unit at the top, let your visitor/member see it without roll down the page

I think placing the ad on top would also break down the overall quality of the site.

This way it's not cluttering the eyes and users can read the pages right away.

ya but you should get your ad placement done well and run the google ads for a few months to see your real eCPM before you put on adbrite. If that side panel ad half way down the page is your only ad then I think you did well getting 148 clicks.

I've been reading all afternoon and I've also removed adsense from a few smaller affluence websites and blogs to avoid smart-pricing. Replaced them exclusively with Adbrite.

So far this seems to be working and each click on the the big traffic site is giving a few more cents at the moment.

I suggest putting the adsense code under the first post of each new message started. That way its seen more because as now I dont even notice them.
And if adsense isnt doing well there are a ton of other alternatives. Check out my sig for a few

Well, I think placing ads beneath the first message would also obstruct the reading as it is sort of annoying for the visitor.

I guess the problem is that the ad itself is often irrelevant and doesn't add anything of value to the topic that is being read.

This probably happens because most advertisers available for this specific area offer generic windows solutions (fix my pc, install antivirus, backup my files etc, etc) that most readers already know how to do by themselves.

Visitors are likely more focused on finding solutions for problems like "How do I create a triple xyz system?", "How do I boot from the LAN using xyz?" and so on.

Maybe a good solution would be placement of ads seemingly unrelated to the area - like those flash puzzles, cheap USB gadgets and related goodies.

    Just a thought.

    :)

It's a forum. Readers go back and forth all day long and this increases the daily pageviews.

A lot of work has been done over the last months to improve the google search performance and this is also showing good results.

At the moment I don't think that I've had too many clicks for this amount of pageviews.

But will keep your message as a reference if I something suspicious going on.

    Thanks.
