I have a question ..i installed apache on my windows 2003 server (RDA) and was trying to download a file to my home pc From it. the problem is i get 200 kbps download speed where i suppose to get way more that this.. Usually i get upto 3 MB download speed at home as i have 30 MB connection and from Rapidshare.com etc etc i download upto the speed of 3 MB ..i guess i am doing something wrong on server or need some edits for super download speed .. How i installed the apache on server and try to download the file... --> i installed the apache web server and moved the file which i want to download to HTdocs folder which is inside apache folder ..then i type ip address and then the filename which i want to download .. and download starts from 80 kbps and the max goes to 200 kbps .. Please help in fixing the download speed .. .. Thank you .
Make sure your Data center or server provider has not set any limit for downlink Bandwidth (for downlaod). Also check for Apache modules and make sure you have no Apache module installed that is blocking the download speed i.e. modules like mod_throttle.
Have you taken into consideration the hops that are present between your local machine and the server? Your machine is not directly connected to your server and thus the intermediate medium has bottlenecks which reduce the speed.
^How can i know if they set up limited download speed? ask them straight or any other way out without asking? . Btw the host company is hosting.ie. i checked the modules folder dont have that mod installed . Please help .
