PR is nothing to do wity SERP... so high PR will not help you to rank high on google.

Yes it does have something to do with SERP's but not the most important thing. It is important after several things. Google has over 50 things to compare for result pages and pr is on 30's i guess. Even if you have pr 7-8 it doesn't mean that you'll be on the first page.

0-4 in 3 months is about right, unless the Google toolbar update is sooner.

Of course, if you have little to no traffic, it's all moot.

Threads about whether PR is or isn't important have overtaken 'when is the next PR update' threads in popularity, I guess.

Seems to me Paradox is right - PR plays a role but it is far from being the only factor. Whether it is factor 3 or factor 50 nobody knows.

But it is clear that for popular search words, most sites doing well are high PR. Which came first? did the high PR give rise to the good SERPS, or did the high SERPS bring the site to everyone's attention, and attract lots of people to link to them? A bit of both I imagine. The two run in parallel.

A site with good natural PR from links on related sites will do well in SERPS and PR ratings as a consequence. But if I go and buy a link on a PR9 viagra site and get a PR7 as a result, it won't have any effect at all on my SERPS, I believe.

On the other hand, if I have a magnificent page about 'blue widgets' and wikipedia has a stub page with just the title 'blue widgets' and nothing else, chances are good they will be rated higher than me.

Overall, I think the sites rated high in the SERPS are those with high PR from natural links, but not those with high PR from bought irrelevant links.

Of course I could be wrong...

i find it hard to believe that pr has much weight i would go with the theory of high SERPS bring the site to everyone's attention, and attract lots of people to link to them?

Just do a search on one of your main keyphrases and look at the pagerank of the top 10 sites. Most likely they will not be in order by page rank also. Page Rank is far less important now than it was in the past.

    Still fun to track though.
