    Hi everyone,

Directory owners here are some of the most well known webmasters around the web and can have great influence on getting the news and support out to the ordinary people.

Iran has been the scene for many protesters fighting for freedom, standing strong, and giving lives.

Us, Iranian people, need your help.

Please change your avatar to green to show your support and spread the world.

Here are some avatars that you can use.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

If you are interested to get up to minute news from Iran you can follow me on twitter.

Thank you very much for your support. We won't forget it.

hope things work out there for you people, everyone in the world should have basic freedoms and free elections not twisted by corruption

the internet is great and it should remain free and open for all countries in the world, governments that censor the internet should be ashamed of themselves

This is political, it shouldn't be here and i dont feel directories should get involved in this in any way.

Directory owners are actually not some of the most well known people on the web, far from it. ;)

Keep political discussion out of the web directory section.

Thanks for the red rep and your lack of support. Way to go pipes....

This is not about choosing a political party, this is about innocent people being slaughtered on the streets, but again you already knew that.

Im not being insensitive or anything but its not the type of forum for this type of discussion, mostly this is a webmasters forum, mostly this is for directory discussion, so i dont think asking for support for whatever goes on in that country should be done here.

We have all seen troubles no matter what country we live in, no matter how bad it is, its not the place for it here.

Theres more conflict and deaths in countries worldwide than i can keep up with.

Lets just keep it webmaster related and directory related here.

As a thought imagine if i asked you to help promote awareness for some sort of problem in my country, the UK, i doubt you would be interested and would most likely see a webmaster forum as a less than ideal place to discuss it.

    Hello...

While many have there reasons for not doing it or its not there country to be
concerned about, i believe that everyone worldwide should see this as a
movement for peoples FREEDOM in a country.

But agree that this thread should be in general discussion section

Good luck with what tomorrow brings

I have seen worse cases of off topic threads in this category that never got moved so I guess I am not bothered by Nima asking Directory owners for support. Knowing he is a directory owner and wanting the support of his fellow owners where else would one ask?

The US has also had election issues - remember 2000? I think much of the news we get is skewed by media sensationalism but I do support a peaceful resolution to the dispute without interferance from outside forces.

No guarantee that Iran will have the freedom, they just want a new guy;) Africa needs our support far more than the middle east. 7 killed in Iran? While hundreds and thousands in Africa...hardly any coverage of it.

Middle-Eastern are very selfish, it is always about me,me,me me me me me, feel sorry for me, look at me i'm bleeding, help me, is the camera on me?

What has the Middle-East have done in this world that deserve all the attention, why so much coverage of it, nothing will change, you think Freedom will come upon that country?

    Bleh!

    Thank you Bruce,

    WWWS,

you are entitled to your opinion. I don't remember the last time Iranians were "begging" for help or talking about "me, me, me, me". Perhaps you can remind me. Categorizing Iran as Middle Eastern and not being able to target Iran itself is easy though. This is as if someone categorizing US and Venezuela in the same category of American continent and drew similar conclusions about the democracy and human rights facts in them.

What have Middle Easterns do for the world that would make them worth your attention? They don't have to have done anything. We are all human beings and injustice should be taken seriously everywhere in the world. As a poet said:

Human beings are members of a whole,
In creation of one essence and soul.
If one member is afflicted with pain,
    Other members uneasy will remain.
If you have no sympathy for human pain,
The name of human you cannot retain.

But if you absolutely need a reason:

    - Iranian people did mourn American's dead
    - You might be surprised to know that Iran houses more refugees than any other country in the world.
    - Iranian diplomats were instrumental in saving many Jews during the Holocaust. The current regime in Iran is not representative of people's beliefs.
    - Iran has pledged $560 million for reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan (which was not Iran's war)
    - There are a lot of interesting facts if you are willing to go back to history

While this regime in Iran did take American embassy hostage in 1979, US overthrew an Iranian democratic government back in 1953.

Honestly I know many more links and topics to post. But as Iranian I'm not familiar with the concept of only supporting those who benefit you. People should support certain values and causes just because its the right thing to do.

Either way, if you ever need our support for a good cause, we'll be there for you.

    Cheers,

For the most part, I agree with posts being "on topic" in forums. If I wanted to talk politics, I would visit a political forum. If I wanted to talk religion, I would go to the appropriate forum.

But I can also see where an occasional "off topic" post is not the end of the world. I belong to another very poplular marketing forum where someone started a post entitled "Donate your points to the starving children". What does that have to do with IM? Nothing. But it became so popular it became a Sticky and has been there ever since. Now, I didn't mind that at all. The only thing that irritates me is now I am not for or against off topic posts. :)) At least before I knew where I stood:))

In all honesty, this thread is not an off topic one, it is related to the directory owners and hence deserved to be here. I support Nima for the cause, let there be freedom and peace :)

@Malcolm, this place was quite a general chat targeting directories and related issues, but the community part of it was killed long back in 2007 so now it looks more like a life less professional directory category or spammers/newbes hideout

this OP has nothing to do with directory section. Because the topic is not related to directories, this thread must go to Politics section.

Nonsense nonsense and nonsense talk is what I simply see! If someone here doesn't have the fucking balls to stand up and say I don't wanna support, then simply keep your nonsense away!

Don't paste your shit and expert advice that where the thread must go! OP should know it very well what he is doing.

The only reason he may have done it in the directory section so as to receive some support from the fellow friends of the directory section.

I don't know how people have to much time to discuss editorial issues! :-|

Probably what I see is that People of this section so feedup with off topic posts in this category than they end up removing their frustration on a noble cause or a member they know. :)

    Peace!! Keep Peace!
