I have a number of PR4 to PR6 sites that suddenly dropped their PR by 1-2 notches in the past 48-72 hours. I suspect that a particular link exchange may be behind it. I wonder if anybody else has seen the same thing. I would be interested in your site fulfills the following criteria 1. PR4 to PR7 2. Have a link box that is similar to COOP, TLA, or blogroll links 3. Have 3 or more outbound links in the box Thanks
im not sure what happened, but sometimes when you don't update your content for a while your pr drops. when was the last time you have updated those websites?
It is my belief that the last PR update that happened towards the end of last month was very generous with many people getting a very good upgrade in the page ranks and it is some of these generous offerings that are slowly being taken back. Regards, RightMan
Many says that update was for Bing's launch. All I notice with those minor PR update were mostly on PR drop.
Thanks, but the sites involved are completely unrelated and set up at different times. I am almost completely certain that it was a warning of some sort. I am particularly interested to know exactly who were intended targets.
hahaha why a disaster? cause the PR dropped? lmao We sat with many of our sites stripped for no good reason for over 2 years and it didnt change a freaking thing... laterz malcolm
I have a printing site that bounced back and forth from PR5 to 1 (it's now a 2) over the past 3 years but my serps were never affected. The way I see it the only way Google can Try to affect link exchange schemes is to hit the sites they suspect of using their rank as a bargaining chip.
PR mainly depends on the number of outcoming and incoming links of your site and their quality. So I see nothing unusual in that your PR has been updated from PR4 to PR7.
I have not seen PR Drop, But yes My serps are dropped by 90%., Is it sandboxing effect? This has all happened after a recent Link exchange with one site. Can it be one of the reasons?
PR is only updated to the toolbar periodically, so what you see as a sudden drop in PR could have happened months ago. The PR is calculated daily, we just aren't shown the results daily. If you're convinced that a particular link exchange is behind your drop in PR, then remove the link from your site. Just remember that you should concern yourself with traffic and search ranking more so than PR.
My PR7 and PR6 sites have not dropped, but i had one PR4 drop to PR2. The drop has not effected the sites rankings, or the rankings of sites it's linking to for the particular anchor text which indicates the change is nothing more than a visual toolbar change.
