The most effective way to block it is using .htacess
Get the spammer IP then block it using geoip

I have thought about this I am not a programer so I wouldn't really know where to start but after talking with my host about this they said the block that would have to be banned would be pretty significant is there not a better way,

one of my ideas was to use .htaccess to block all .mail. urls from being loaded on the site and instead have anyone that tries to access any site with .mail. to be redirected to the main page

would this work and if so does anyone know what code I would use to accomplish this

Block all webmails in your iptables firewall. Go to google and search "webmail" and you'll get a list of the popular webmails.
    For example http://webmail.cox.net ,

go into root of your server with Putty, and figure all the IPs their using for their webmail and block them

You can do this to the IP's
    > nslookup webmail.cox.net
    root@server [~]# nslookup webmail.cox.net
    Server: 127.0.0.1
    Address: 127.0.0.1#53

    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: webmail.cox.net
    Address: 68.1.17.9

    root@server [~]# nslookup idm.east.cox.net
    Server: 127.0.0.1
    Address: 127.0.0.1#53

    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: idm.east.cox.net
    Address: 68.99.123.133

Linux code to firewall a IP:
    iptables -A INPUT -s 68.99.123.133 -j DROP

If your using Glype add maby consider to add to the bad word list filter.

    array('mail');

Before you made your proxy, you really should of blocked all webmail IP addresses in your firewall. The popular ones are like webmail.cox.net

.htaccess wouldn't work anyways. Since it will no effect on the IP addresses what sites are viewed. Iptables is not too tech savvy.
All you do log into root via putty.
    and type

    > iptables -A INPUT -s xx.xx.xx.xx -j DROP
    > service iptables save
    > service iptables restart
(Optional to undo it) > iptables -D INPUT -s xx.xx.xx.xx -j DROP (THIS WILL REMOVE THE IP YOU BLOCKED)
The IP will now be blocked on the firewall level of your server.

Typing nslookup in your putty console will show the IP of the website( Known as DNS A records) So if you want to figure out 'webmail.cox.net' type

    >nslookup webmail.cox.net

Or you can move your hosting to http://wdservers.com , they block all webmails by default so you dont have to worry about it.
