Does anyone have a list of .gov and .org forums that are useful for SEO. IE....dofollow links & signiture links?
Search Google for you topic using INURL. So if you are looking for automobile related forums w/ .gov extensions search for:
It's a myth that .gov .edu links are magical But they can't hurt + many of those site are old and authority sites ..
w3bmaster is correct. In general links from .gov and .edu sites are no different than links from .com or .net sites. Some of the very old .gov and .edu sites can pass you something that .com and .edu domains don't pass however - domain trust. But this is not true for many .gov and .edu sites. Just because they use the .gov and .edu TLD does not automatically mean that they are highly trusted domains. Sites with high domain authority are sites that are linked to by lots of other sites AND where the inbound links are to MANY pages on their site, not just to the home page. It's the fact that many pages on a site are linked to by many other sites that make the engines see your site as an authority. Sites w/ high domain trust are sites that are linked to by other highly trusted sites (very old, established .gov, .edu, and even some .com sites that were dubbed 'highly trusted' when Google started considering trust in their algorithm) and which also link out to other highly trusted sites.
