[WTS] Web Directory | Alexa 93k | 2kUV/month | Great Domain!

Hi!

I'm selling my web directory. I have owned this little over month now and made little promotion for it. It's still PR 0, but domain is fantastic for this kind of website. It has 3 main sources of traffic; direct, Directory Critic and Web Directory Listings.

As you seen on the stats, there is also little traffic from Top Trafic. I bought some traffic from them just to test their service...and to realize, it's not so good for directories.

Last month the site got over 2000UV and every day there comes more links to be approved. Also, I made some article directory promotions on directory critics to make that side roll also. Few articles are coming all the time.

There is no revenue of any kind. Last month I got one click from adSense.

So, what do you get? Script it self, database and the licence. Hosting is something I can't incule, but you don't need much...according to my stats 4Gb of bandwith and maybe a 100Mb space should be enough. Ofcourse, you need also PHP/MySQL connection for the script.

Why am I seliing this? Well, there are two point. First of all, I'm starting a new project so time for mastering this directory is getting short. Second reason it that I need every resource what I can get (including money) to build the next project.

Huh? Blackhat method on Alexa ranking? Never heard of even one, but let me explain something. Alexa doesn't give all the value to actual unique visitor...as thei clearly state on their FAQ, the pageview is also a factor here. Last month this site had over 11k.

I really don't know how Alexa ranking is actually counted (bacese I never had time to study it nor had reason to do so), but when I look at my stats, thei are pretty good: avg. time on site: 6min.7sek, Bounce Rate 28.62%, New Visits 70.82%. (this is not new info, just collected from general stats to make a point)

Far as I understood from alexa.com, time is also a factor here. I have owned this domain little over a month now. Three moths is something what alexa is looking. I don't know what has been done two or three months ago, but this is something I do know; few weeks ago it was more than 100k, now its less than that. When I got this site, it had little less that 100 visitors a day and 300-400 page views, now it has little over 100 visitors and 400-500 page views. Weekends are quite calm, sunday is more or less dead. Based on this Alexa has stated that my ranking is 93k. Why? well, that's something you have to ask from them.

It's quite unfriendly to come and point fingers and riseing questions about methods how something has been achieved, while it's so irrelevant (do you realy thing that I'd sell a 93k with less than $100 if it wound be relevant factor on this kind of site?).

 

Alexa rank is completely misleading and is a complete non-factor in the value of a website.

It's not a big deal to drive traffic and submissions to a web directory - the job is to convert that into cash

Sure. No problem. That last thread is the one where I bought it from. Whole directory was a mess...registered script without license (it's still a bit mess, but now there is some improvement done). In Google there was only few pages indexed and all the traffic stats were missing. So, with Google Analytics, -Webmaster Tool, -adSense and StatsCounter I made a basic setup for the site.

I promoted it on few sites, made some improvments to emails and bought the license. Waited a month and now it's the first time I can sell this thing and realy get some money out of it. Ideal would be after three months, but as the first post tells you, I have some other porojects what I need to take care of.

Why did I buy this in the first place? Look at the domain! What and ideal name for a link directory. True, with PR 0 there is some thing to do, but every on of my domains have a good reputation in Google and Google knows what domains I own. So, is there was some bad reputation behind this domain...it's long gone.

As you clearly point out...this directory has some weird reputation; all of the other sellers have been banned. When I look thoes threads, the whole offer has been weird every time. Some way mysterious...no stats, not anykind of information about anything. And the bin was always $20...no matter what happened. Why? Don't know.

Anyway, I bet this is not the first site ever what has been sold here in DP moe than ones.
