Is it worth it for me to use AsWords if I don't sell anything? I would be making money off of Adsense and my Amazon affiliate account. I don't sell any products; my site is an educational reference database. So pretty much, I would be paying for traffic in order to make money back on adsense. Is this a bad strategy? Also, I got a $50 voucher in the mail, how many what # of clicks (give me a range) is that good for?
You can use Adwords for two reasons: 1) Conversions (sale / lead / sign up etc) 2) Brand awareness. If you think your site needs one of the above, you can use Adwords for your projects. It's almost impossible to give a narrow range for the number of clicks. Adwords works on individual keyword bidding (if not CPM campaign) and the bid for each keyword depends on many factors. You can have bids for $0.05 to $1.00 (or much more) - that depends on many factors. But assuming an average QS (7/10) and a decent landing page, you can get clicks around $0.20 which makes around 250 visitors. But again, this is a very very very rough approximation. It costs $5 activation fee to start using Adwords, and I strongly suggest that you use that $50 for promotion of your site. Regards,
also, if your site is an affiliate site then you need to make sure you have quite a bit of useful, unique content on there specifically related to the niche, otherwise Google will penalise you with a low QS
Buying adwords traffic to convert into adsense clicks is frowned upon by google, however you CAN still buy traffic from other PPC engines and try to convert into adsense clicks. Try some 2nd tier search engines, where the CPC will be lower
