I don't write that many articles. I'm more of a copywriter in the sense that I do branding campaigns and then the media that results. Like websites, ads, brochures, taglines etc. So, in short, it's not a specialty of mine but I get requests for it. So how many of you are good at the article marketing thing? I would think that is more PR than copywriting.
Me, but I can't talk about it. Seriously though, article marketing is a function of IMC. The articles themselves are just your garden variety article (not PR pieces). Take a look at Ezinearticles.com for examples. You'll instantly notice that most of the articles are crap. The "why" is part of the Indiana Jones clue toward discovering the Web Profits Holy Grail. I don't know what that means, but it sounded cool when I typed it. Feeling very whimsical today. Are men allowed to say whimsical (straight men)? Anyway, I've been using article marketing successfully for many years and even did a version of it in print for a bit before all this came out online. To me, being "good" in article marketing is less about quality of content and more about knowing how to "work the system." Good luck grasshopper.
As people become more and more aware about *importance of keeping the unique content on their own domain than creating it for someone else's domain and * duplicate content issues, - article marketing will decrease in importance imo.
I also write mostly brochures, sales letters and web copy, but I still write articles. I'm not limited to writing for the web, though. I also write for local publications. Although it's a b*tch waiting for the measly paychecks that come with them. Oh, and of course, men can say 'whimsical' especially when referring to their favorite musicals.
Yep, it's all about the system. That's why I think article marketing is more like PR. Those are based on relationships. I tend to do more local consulting, seminars, branding and web development lately. I never have done the article marketing thing because I'm just not that into it. But it's who you know, just like PR. That's why I equate it more with PR than copywriting. In this economy, I get a TON of calls regarding SEO consulting and teaching other copywriters how to do SEO Copywriting. I get the occasional article marketing request but not many.
i use article marketing on a majority of my clickbank products that i promote and i get a pretty good pay off. so it actually helps just so u know!!!
Yeah Dude, you are right about knowing how to work the system for the end results. There is no need to lie about things, I try to keep good content as much as possible to deliver a better end result for the end user to help out with my linking structures with my blogs I back link to from my articles to help my page rank and quality score mainly for lower ppc cost. So, multiple unique articles, (65% or better) make the system hummmmm' pretty well for me. I just think solid article marketing branches helpfully into many other things for you when handling your traffic and keeping repeat viewers to your sites.
I am mainly an article marketer. I love it because I find it very easy. It doesn't take a genius to come up with the kinds of articles I have to write. The best part about it is that it sends me consistently good traffic and cash.
I think article marketing is vital for any business, even no matter it is online or offline. Article Marketing is not just PR, if it's properly done, it will help you build online crediblity and popularity.Of course, this is possible only writing and publising unique, top-notch articles that really show your expertise on certain niche. Therefore I love and actively use article marketing for all my online projects. Craps are everywhere around. So it is even better for you. As you can easily compete with those "spammy" article marketers.
Short answer: no You could get one link from a top site in your site's "neighborhood" and be better off. It's uses are no longer real SEO. You can use it to help get a site indexed, but there are quicker ways. At the end of the day, it's there to possibly help build brand (if you're writing good stuff) and get some traffic (this is the main function)—this is why people write many articles daily.
I have done it myself. I think it is however a dieing field for people in US. I can get people in Malaysia to write perfect English articles for $1.5 a piece. I think if you want to make it in writing, you have to find a more specialized field. Article marketing is not about quality, it is a number game.
@webgal You might want to check thread in my signatures. He bought my signatures and provides excellent Article Marketing Service
I wrote articles too. But the effect is not good enough, even buzzle.com gives few traffic everyday. I wonder if i submitted too small group?
So you mean the quality is not important but the number? However there are some writer like from makeuseof. As soon as they post, many people retweet on twitter. That is really impressive.
