Hi, I posted some perfectly on-topic comments on blogs such as mygarden.housenstyle.com and schwoit.com. Comments were awaiting approval for more than a week and the disappeared, I assume they were rejected. On one hand, I see quite some comments with user names such as "Roseville Pottery" or "Sleep aid", which is clearly advertising and those comments are published - on the same blogs. My on-topic comments were rejected. Are such blogs just a tool for the incrowd, publishing comments from friends or affiliates, or are they really open?
Some bloggers are soooo tired of spam that they will nix ANY comment with a link. Try to post a few times without one, then add one that is really on topic. That way they may become familiar with your name and allow a link or three.
Yeah, that's pretty much it. Bloggers are tired of being used as a backlink. I don't even allow comments on many of my posts because of it. Also many people have multiple sites, and use their own blogs for comment backlinks
Most of blogs no need comment with no meaning. They need only true comments. But accidentally Comments with links are approved from admin. Try to post meaningful comment.
comments are awaiting approval and then disappearing may not only mean they got rejected, it could be due to cache/cookie expiring as well for which you dont see the comments pending approval anymore. check back after some time to see they got approved or not. also, i would follow the advice above of posting comments with a name without URL instead of posting using anchor text with URL to get a good idea as to whats happening
Bloggers are the most egotistical bunch out there. You need to build a reputation with most that have high-trafficked blogs, because they know the power of a link from their blog. Give them a back rub and post some relevant information for awhile.
Spam is so unneccesary. Comments like nice post and thank for sharing really drive me crazy (including on DP). It's not difficult coming up with something a bit more useful. Spending 3 minutes posting something useful, rather than 1 minutes posting spam will be more profitable because maybe 90% will be submitted instead of 10%.
even people are using these blogs to get backlink , at least they should post something relevant to the context of the blog post. something that will look less spammy.
But it is daftly annoying when you write up like 2 paragraphs of a comment and above you you have like 10 comments like Nice post!, Oh I never thought of that!, Your posts always make me laugh, etc but all with Generic names with links and you post a keyword + link + sign your name at the bottom of the post. Whereas TulipKitten + www.tullipkitten.com + "Nice Post, I never knew that I could save money by walking" is listed and your the one who gets blacklisted Lol. I almost wish people had to go through a test asking which of these posts are spam and if you fail, then you don't blog haha.
There may not be a rhyme or reason to it. They may require "real names" not keywords only allow links from frequent contributors. I get what you are saying but commenting on someone's blog is not a democartic process ;-)
When I comment on blogs, I generally use this nickname (Christopher for those that can't read it) and use qryztufre.com as the link.... though, I've yet to do a post like "Nicely said!". Heh, my given content may not be the best content, but I always post something. I've had some comments seemingly NIXED and it is confusing at times...but he, if I was spamming my site, then LOL... have you seen it? It's a horrible toss up of HTML 2.0
I have never faced a situation in which my really on-topic comment was rejected, may be in your case the blogger was just too tired and sick of those spammers
I once NIXED a pile of comments and in the process accidentally dumped one that was seemingly a real comment...
We own several blogs with dofollow comments and I have a few users who read on a regular basis and they don't try to take advantage of dropping in links whenever they can. They contribute to the dialogue, give good advise, and after 10-15 comments I really don't mind that they add their link, even if it's in the post itself (not signature/name). IMO dofollow comments and dropping links within those comments are much like forums. Once you contribute and show that you're there to help the community or readers, then the webmaster or moderator will be more relaxed about letting you add your link. A couple of times contributors actually asked us beforehand if they contributed quite a bit to the blog would we consider allowing them to add their link. Our answer.... Sure! If they are adding free content that's helping pages get ranked, then I don't mind giving a link to them within their posts.
Personally I like the blog plugins that allow you to have a link but only if your posting more then 5 messages or whatever, although your never told the amount or that the person has the plugin. This weeds out the real commentators from the one post commentators or spammers. Although I don't believe any relevant comment should ever be deleted if it's using a keyword+link in the name.
