Starting an Affiliate Network

    Hi everyone,

I've been thinking about starting an affiliate network for the past few years. I have some great ideas, but haven't really gone into the specifics for anything quite yet. I'd love to find one or two other people who are also business minded, ambitious, and know a lot about online marketing. Also, a web designer would be key. I would love to start up as a partnership with one or two other people. My idea is to start out small, and eventually grow and grow. If anyone is interested, PM me. I don't exactly have much capital, but I think with the right people we could make this work. Residing in the United States is a must.

I'm currently attending college with a major in Entrepreneurship. My idea is to start up a small affiliate network as soon as possible without rushing anything. (within a year or two) I want it to be a solid network, so I'm not planning on setting any dates anytime soon. As soon as I finish college in 2012, I would want to expand, get a physical location, and hopefully become pretty big. I know its possible.

Anyway, PM me and let me know what you can bring to the table. I'm thinking about having our main focus on non-incentive offers, but try to keep 25+ incentive offers for our freebie enthusiasts. This is just my thought right now though, as I said previously nothing has been completely thought about yet. I want to get a small team together and have us all brain-storm and come up with some amazing ideas.

    General Requirements...

    18+
    Attending college, or college degree
Knowledge of HTML, PHP, etc. (basic understanding)
    Reside in the US
Open-Mindedness. Willing to learn new things.
Experience in marketing (PPC, Incentive sites, etc)

    Thanks everyone,
    Garrett

Just make your network one of the few that doesn't shave commissions and you will go a long way.

If you want a good and profitable aff network, you need 2 things.

The first, and most important thing is to have quality products which convert well and are profitable. This will draw affiliates like bears to honey.

The second is an easy to use interface which focuses on maximizing productivity and profit.

If you get those two things sorted, you'll be well on the way to making some decent coin.

Well, I would only give you best wishes and would suggest you that without website traffic, you will be unable to make any sales - no matter how great your affiliate products are. It is therefore crucial to learn and apply proven internet marketing strategies to build traffic and encourage those visitors to click on your affiliate links. Internet marketing begins with website design, content and search engine optimization strategies (SEO). Your website needs to be easy to navigate, focused on one particular niche (although it can include sub-categories), contain unique, relevant and useful content which is updated regularly and optimized for search engines by using (but not overusing) keywords related to your page content. Once you have created your website you can implement traffic building strategies such as article marketing, paid search engine listings, press releases (where appropriate), write blogs related to your subject and link back to your website (also have direct affiliate links on your blog), and engage in social networking sites such as Facebook.

These are basic starting points for generating website traffic that is targeted and likely to be interested in one or more of the affiliate products you are promoting. There are plenty of online resources that can teach you how to apply these various strategies to promote your site and increase your affiliate marketing referrals.

Starting an affiliate network really isn't that hard. Say clickbank for instance, just has a login, a search, user money managing, and payment processing. All the logic is fairly simple really.

Oh I understand, but I'm talking solely about the creation of the site, not about promotion and getting it popular.
