I've seen a few points on whether it is good or bad to list all your sites in the Google Webmaster Tools, everyone says it is ok because Google probably already knows you own the sites from other info (Host, IP, WhoIs, etc). We come from a quality management background so I have some sites that are related all the Quality Management that I want to eventually put sites on and not have one penalized. I'm not a big fan of putting all your eggs in one basket and it only give Google more power to control us Webmasters if they know all your websites. It almost sounds like it would be better to maintain several ISP's, Domain Registrars and Google Webmaster Accounts? For example if you have 30 sites, split them amount 3 Registrants, ISP and Google Accounts! Can anyone comment?
Yes,i think if we own lots sites,we will put it in different id.And hope google do not know all of them are mine.
If you are using the sites for adding links to your other sites, that technique might be good but when you are working on tens of sites and they are promoted from third party link building sources, one account is enough.
I just can't trust in this. These days "Information is Power" and Google exploits every bit of information they can get their hands on and uses it for their advantage. I don't even link my site together! Even if you use white-hat solid techniques, google changes their mind so often and you go from being #1 to #200 over night and then you are screwed when it happens to all your websites at once. I bet this is a decision that many SEO and webmasters will regret in the future. I would just about bet my life that sometime in the next few years Google will some how exploit this feature of Webmaster Tools... g
Could you explain what you are worry about? What you mean by "control us"? What G can do if it knows all your (or my) sites? It seems to me it's overreaction. Let's stop to use Google Map - otherwise G will know where we live and one day came and take us...
It's good to have accounts in webmaster tools because it can help you to improved your site optimization.
Yes i am also asking about this, What we need to worry about on this. So what, if they know most of your sites, are they going to hack it? Or whatever unethical they would do. I know Google is Good.
I manage around 50 websites added on the same google webmaster's account.. Never saw anything negative about this practice.
Well lets take the "Recip Links" policy for example. Google decided to make everything different and it cause all the SERP to dance. There are some SEO guys who already say Google is manually editing listings if they know you are an SEO expert. So let's say that next years, the "ALL MIGHT" Google decides to penalize anyone who they think is an SEO expert. Now lets say you added all your 100 domains to the same Google Webmaster Account and you now have all you eggs in one basket and they penalize all of your websites. Bottom Line is G is getting to big for their pants and if you put all your domains registered, hosted and all using their tools under the same account, It seems risky to me. g
Of course not now, but as we all know G loves to let you do 1 thing today and then tomorrow you can't do that now and worst yet we will penalize you if you do. Look at how Google went down the API path and now ditched it. How about Reciprocal links, they used to be the way thing were done and Google now change that and you are suspect if you have recip links now. I agree that now there might not be an negative aspect, but I'm betting once they get everyone using it, there will be negative consequences of putting all your domains in the same basket with Google. After all, google has plainly stated they don't have out interest at heart, but the search user. Webmasters and SEO people are simply a pawn to G to make their money.
From my experience I can say for sure that it's not a good ideea to keep more RELATED NICHE sites on the same account.
Well I've always put all of my websites into one account and it hasn't made a difference at all in my opinion. I'm not sure why it would anyway though.
Well, G-dance exists all the time - G works on the algorithm permanently. And btw it's common known fact that it's bad idea to link your own sites all together. As for "next years" - if G decide penalize all SEO-expert's sites - it would penalize 90% sites in the web. If this happen I'll simply find other job.
Well, I think everyone's situation is different, but if you have related sites (as I do) I think the general opinion is don't have them on the same account. If you have a few site that are not related, do it.
dont think you have anything to worry about unless you are intentionally using black hat. as long as your honest google will treat you fairly, and when they stop treating us fairly we will all turn to bing, or yahoo or ...etc. and nobody will care about googlwe anymore
