Yes yahoo will definitely going to get a tough competition. However, google is far away and bing has to work really hard to put google into trouble but not considering that in near future.
Bold predictions for the future - Television & Mobile browsing will surpass PC browsing. How can Microsoft capitalize on these two critical markets? Google owns YouTube, which, along with Hulu, is certain to eventually make a transition to a cable box near you. In order for Microsoft to enter this market, they need to try something different. I think 3D or Virtual Reality could be the way to go. Stereoscopic cameras? Microsoft has a big stake in Facebook - a huge chunk of the future of mobile. What about Twitter? It has up-do-the-second search. Think about it - whoever buys Twitter essentially buys a monetizable search engine heavily tied to the mobile market. Myspace is worthy of consideration as well. Map websites are also heavily mobile. Should Microsoft attempt to acquire Mapquest? Microsoft Maps clearly isn't competing with Google in the Maps department.
First a little background. I have been teaching art in a school now for 12 years (lower and middle school girls). They always used Google and Ask for search...mostly Google. Today while teaching a middle school arts camp, they needed to look up some things on the computer (mostly images)...and guess what. 12 out of the 14 girls were using Bing! So I asked them why (being a webmaster as well). There were several reasons (looks, etc.), but the top 2 was "They have more images" and "The image search is better". Now I cannot verify the first (more images), but the fact was, for these girls, Bing was now the "big engine". It just makes me wonder how far it could go.
Children are very visual... maybe that's why they went with the orange. And kids like to say Bing, the same way they used to like to say Google - the number one followed by one hundred zeros (googol). It is a fun name. And children are bound to influence their parents.
Well right now it seems more people each day are binging it at least for my 4 websites overall the bing searches are up over 50% compared when it was live and even the msn bots are having a field day even they are crawling the sites now more than much more than google. If they continue at this pace google will lose ground. Microsoft has the money and backing to do it.
Well in fact I would much rather say "Bing it"... I find it rolls off the tongue very well... I just hope it catches on and people do not think I'm nuts when I say it
I personally think both are the Devil. If Microsoft wins the Search Engine war, they will be one step closer to world domination. Their business ethics and need to control everyone isn't any better than Google's. I would like to see Yahoo come and and kick both in the butt... But that isn't gonna happen.
I would rather have the be the bad guys because they haven't tried to change us Webmasters new as much as Google. As for Microsoft, they pockets are to deep and the track record has proven with all the companies they have put out of business with bad tactics... I have one word "NETSCAPE". g
LOL, good one We'll just have to wait and see. I don't have allegiance to any search engine as long as I can find what I'm looking for.
Well! Google is Gooogle.... its not easy that much for Bing.... But i appreciate that there should be some competition and it may result is good services and good for users....
if bing wants to compete with google they should at least offer services that google don't i find bing way too simplistic to be abble to frighten google
I really doubt that Bing will beat Google, I still think that Google will still stay ahead. It's going to be really difficult for anyone to beat Google.
