It's not just about oil, even though oil control is extremely important for the US to keep it's influence over the world.

It's also about drugs.. and making sure the CIA/Wall Street continue to profit from them. Less than a year before we invaded Afghanistan, the Taliban had destroyed nearly all of the opium fields in the country (70% of world production)... as soon as we came and killed them, our good friends the northern alliance replanted all the opium plus more.... now there's record amounts of herion being sold and record profits for the CIA

I'm going to go ahead and ignore mia's 4,517th annoying, pointless comment and provide you with sources since your too lazy to go do a little research or even a simple google search.

3 years after our invasion opium production is at highest ever levels:
Don't worry though don't hold anyone responsible says the US:
Yet until we went and destroyed the taliban they had wiped out nearly all the opium in Feb 2001...
The street value of 2005's harvest... roughly $175 Billion... the CIA's doing a wonderful job ;)

If you were ignoring me, why would you even mention me? Now that is a real conundrum.

More Americans get their news from "Google Searches" than from any other source.

Well there you have it. We took down the taliban, didn't capture bin laden, and doubled opium production, then doubled it again. You can thank the CIA and Bush Admin. for adding an extra $7 Billion worth of drugs into the world's population this year.

So in essence, you are saying you don't have a source to back up "It's also about drugs.. and making sure the CIA/Wall Street continue to profit from them."

Because the sources you provided didn't provide any info on that at all.

You go on to quote another source just above, to cite that "Afghanistan is currently the number one producer of the drug..."

But you intentionally left out the sentence before that says:

Why would you leave such an important sentence out, except in an attempt to be misleading? Yet further, your sources do not mention anything about profits for the CIA or Wallstreet. Granted, I don't accept your third source there, it has no media reporting value.

So what gives yo-yo? Posting a lot of information about opium, and leaving out vital parts, does not validate what you are suggesting. Is there anything else you wanted to add?

You're right, there is no news source reporting that the CIA is profiting from it, I wonder why

I've provided sources that clearly show what events took place:
    1. The Taliban bans opium and reduces production to nearly nothing.
    2. 1 year later the US invades and takes out the Taliban.
    3. Since then our good allies the Northern Alliance have quadrupled opium production.
    4. The US isn't stopping it obviously.

So what conclusion can you come to? Why isn't the US stopping the opium production? I know why, but what's your silly explanation gtech? ;)

I've come to the conclusion that some pretty outlandish claims were made. I asked for a source to back them up. I was ridiculed for being too lazy to look them up, only to find out they didn't exist in the first place. I was provided with sources of lots of useful information, but they didn't backup the claims that were asserted. I concluded that opium is produced for medical reasons, but that fact was intentionally left out.

I concluded the author is disappointed that the taliban is not in power. The same taliban that murdered and executed untold numbers of people, the same taliban that beat women in the streets if any part of their body showed, other than their eyes. The same taliban that prevented women from seeking education, equal rights and treated women like fourth class scum. Of all the conclusions I've come to from your post, this was the most enlightening conclusion. It says a lot more than opium is produced for medical purposes.

My overall conclusion is that my insticts were correct...there were no sources to back up such outlandish claims. It further suggests that for some, credibility is not a high priority when posting.

There is no common cure. It stems from the desire to be popular and in fashion with the latest sound bytes that derive from liberals. Often, such delusion is accompanied by a statement to "think for yourself," while those parroting such repeat unverified talking points that are spewed across the forums.

The BDS victim, truly afraid to follow their own advice of "think for yourself," wants to be popular and seem to be in fashion with what is being repeated elsewhere, will offer a "fly by" post to let the world know they are following the latest popular hype as well.

It's a very distinguishable pattern, once you know what to look for. You can usually tell when an advanced case of BDS is about to surface by mentions of "faux news, Bush stole my cans of oil, Cheney hit me upside the head with a Haliburton briefcase, bush lied, people died," and of course, the ever popular "Bush just called himself King" followed by untold numbers of exclamation points!!!!!!!!!

Hahahahaha..... I just showed you how many sources stating nearly all of the opium gos straight into the illegal trade for heroin, yet you continue to turn a blind eye.

You really are something else! :D

    From my already cited sources:
    From another source: http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2002/3/28/95240.shtml

Even though worldwide bans on sales are in effect, you still conclude its for legal "medical" purposes!! HAHAHAHA
There you go, proof the opium fields aren't for medical purposes, but are for herion.

So whats your new conclusion gtech? :D

As far as I can tell from skimming over them, you provided zero sources that state "nearly all of the opium gos straight into the illegal trade for heroin." Your point was "It's also about drugs.. and making sure the CIA/Wall Street continue to profit from them." of which I countered.

Since you do not argue the points I countered, I can only come to a further conclusion that you believe I was correct.

    Did you have anything else?
