Linkdealer makes a good point. The initial question is too vague. One starts in Google Keyword Tool, entering basic terms relevant to your business.

For one of my sites, in indemnity insurance, I started with the term professional indemnity insurance (risk protection cover for consultants).

Once the results were shown (UK only in my case), I then downloaded it into excel, and sorted the data, and this showed me the keywords on which to start formulating a keyword strategy.

Linkdealer, and others, will more likely have some more advanced ideas about how to boost your online sales. This is just to get you started.

Lastly, use all of DigitalPoint's forums to read up on the latest internet challenges etc.

This is an open ended question which i find a little difficult to answer.
But if you are looking for optimization, you are probably talking about SEO or what people often call "search engine optimization". There are some good resources to go to. If you google "SEO help" or "keyword research help" or something like that, you'll be able to find tonnes of info available. and if you need guided help, attend a course near your area or online. There is nothing that beats having a good mentor to show you the ropes.

If you sign up for the Bing Webmaster Tools, you can see your site's pages rank (1 through 5 - they are actually green bars) based on keywords that you enter.

There are other ways to increase your listing in G or other engines. It is my understanding that there is not much emphasis put on key words as there were.

Try to get quality links to your site - relevent to your content - then work on creating great content that user will benefit from.

I have a question on keyword results.

I don't understand whether a higher search result is better or not.

For example, a tool found 926,000 search count for my keyword.
    Is that good or bad?

    thanks

The answer to that question would depend on the quantity and quality of the competition you have for that given keyword :)
