I just had a strange thing happen, my main site www.******.com fell in ranking and when I typed my domain it just shows my url without title or description and redirects to another site I have. And when I click on Cached page next to my link it says Moved Permanently. Is there a thread about this? Was is dome manualy by MSN? does anyone know how I can contact them about this? Thanks
Sounds like you (or your host) messed up the server somewhere. When you visit the site does it redirect to the other site?
No it dosen't redirect, I just checked again and when I find my site in MSN by a product it is listed properly and it does not redirect. The only time is when I type my sites url and find the site is when it does the redirect and is listed as URL only with no title or info.
Also it redirects fron index page to a subdirectory in other sites page. example www.****** .com to: www.***.com/****/****** .htm
Whats the site? Post the contents of your htaccess file. It could be a bug in the way apache is set up. Sometimes MSN and Yahoo fall down on the way apache handles multiple connections and sessions.
I just emailed them, thanks for the info. I belive could be a 301 redirect matter but I have never redirected the main index page to the other site, but have redirected directory to directory from site to the other site. Will keep you guys updated.
just got an email from host that nothing has been changed since we did the 301 and that was over a year ago, maybe MSN has a new algo running that treats 301's a little differently.
What code have you use to create the 301? MSN can't just magically decide to redirect one of your sites to the other. Post your url and the htacces file.
I don't know exactly what code it was but we have deleted them, all I know was a year ago I asked my host and made sure it was a 301 redirect and not 302. This was the time when Google was asking sites to do a 301 redirect from non www to www and the host did this for me and didn't have any trouble with it for a year, I will try to get more info from them.
