Im also waiting for that payment system that will be better than paypal. 5%++ charges is too high for me.
I'm an eBusiness Adviser in the UK and i hear this complaint about Pay Pal weekly, if not more. Fair enough if google offer a new payment tool and its got better percentages for sellers, its a winner, but google and paypal are both names that inspire confidence in your buyers. If you use a less known provider that offers lower fee's, how are you going to know they'll actually commit to buy using a payment system they dont trust? It could have the best security statement in the world, SSL'd up to the hilt, but unless your customer trusts them, they wont use it. I'd recommend looking at setting up a merchant account - it will have higher set up fee's and may take a bit of development time to implement, but long term, the majority of them work out cheaper than pay pal. Bear in mind a merchant account can keep your funds for anything up till 90 days depending on your companies credit scoring - factor these payment terms into a cash flow plan. Best place to look for a merchant account is with your current bank. They know you, have a history with you and will usually bend over backwards to keep you as a customer.
I'm thinking of using bidpay.com The only problem we International people (South African in my case) find is that Pay Pal and Google don't support us. At least Bid Pay does, all you need is a US Bank account. Regards David Tislini
google is out with Gbuy, but you can still use bidpay, and a few others. stormpay use to be like paypal but now they scammed some people and are an auction site. i just found greenzap too idk bout em.
If you have something for sale on Froogle, you can use googles payment service from what I know so far.
Not really.. they are in BETA as usual, and they have no full functionality yet. Even if you see some merchants alredy accepting GBuy, i do not think it is fully available for us.
I think paypal do charge more than they should, however they are the market leader so they can. It'll be interesting to see how much of the market Gbuy manages to grab.
I am a paypal and money bookers user. Paypal, everyone knows it. Moneybookers accepts uploads directly from the credit card or bank accont. I haven't had troubles and I'm using Money Bookers for almost a year now. The bad thing about it is that it has some limits on sending money or receiving. Just like paypal, however, they are solved easily. Everything is straightforward there, and the affiiliate system looks better than paypal's one. I haven't played yet with their e-commerce API, but PayPal's IPN it's a great thing. I'll give it a try and keep you posted. Vladimir
There are some competitors but nobody has s significant market share as PayPal. You can use Moneybookers for example but the if your customer have funds in PayPal and is not willing to switch to MB you loose customers easly. Google checkout is nothing that can compete with PayPal, I expected more and better from Google.
