It depends on how you want to go about it. Forums like DP can easily go about charging subscription fees and people will pay to be here. But, if it is from ads and affiliates, yeah a good large forum sure can make a lot of money..depends on what money making approaches you use
what is the best way to advertise my new, creative teen forum that promotes cultural diversity and allows teens to win some cash by sharing their highschool stories?
I wouldn't start a forum strictly as a money making endeavor, there are infinitely easier ways to make more money than a forum would generate. This forum generates enough AdSense revenue to pay the monthly colocation bills, but that's about it. But then again, monetizing the forum (like paid subscriptions) isn't what we are trying to do.
I think that forums are profitable in some niches, like fashion. But most forums don't really generate income, just indirectly maybe.
I think car forums make a lot of money I have seen car forums where thay have ad sense and they also have sponsors who pay for their traffic in reward for selling their products at mass on the forum.. some of these car forums make nice profits each month, but things turn ugly when mods want to "cash in" on the act so to say, I have seen this happen and things go very veyr messy. a mod totally wipped this honda forum and caused all these problmes, all over cash charing dramas.
if a mod wants money and the owner doesnt want to give him any way not just move on and create your own forum.
shawn, what would you say is the easiest way to make money online? I can't believe all those people with incredible success stories like googleprofits.com can I? -Thanks
You really need to have more than just a forum to make money, maybe offer some services related to the forum or lots of original content, etc ... takes a long time to start making money with just a forum.
Yeah. The forum need to grow really large in order to earn any significant amount. Google recently also publish an optimization tips for adsense on forum.
