My website is getting few visitors from Google and Yahoo but nobody is buying. Is there something I do not know? www.perfumewomens.com Thanks for help.
It could be that because you're an unknown brand, people are not confident about buying from your site. Maybe you should add some more information to your home page about who you are and why people should be confident about buying from you. There are a lot of fraudsters out there and people want to be assured that they are not going to get ripped off.
Yes. Most organic traffic do not buy. They are mostly window shoppers, hopping from site to site. They also look for free stuff. You may want to think about moving on from search engines and on to the next method at hand. Your site could also need a little bit more tuning up. Be personable, tell them the benefits of certain perfumes. Examples: "The particular brand is what single guys seem to like the most." "Blah blah blah is also good for in the workplace, where some people may have sensitive noses."
It depends from which keyword the organic traffic comes. If it comes from the keyword "perfume" or "perfume for woman" than probably you're traffic will not convert because the people who searched for these keyword may be interested not in buying perfumes, but they may be interested in information about it, in types of perfumes, etc. If you want to convert your organic traffic, than you must focus on keywords like "buy perfume" or "buy perfume online" or something like that, and build as much backlinks to your websites with these keywords as anchored text. Another problem would be your website design. It is not very professional and it does not inspire trust to people. Try to make it a little better.
Thanks for the help guys. So, I need to concentrate more on branding, more information and better website design. How can I make the website design better? Is it the layout or the colors? Thanks
Write some articles targeting the words "buy perfumes" etc, put some on your website, some on article directory pointing back to your website. So the visitors would be more targeted.
Like you have said, your website is getting few visitors from Google and Yahoo. How do expect conversions with only low traffic? Try to drive more traffic (unique traffic) to your site and you may see some conversions then.
You can make your website as trusted one. Then you can publish your website as more as you can. Later your website will be very familiar. Or you can post ads regarding your website details like the facilities you provide.
Read these articles and then tweak your site for better conversions: http://www.google.com/support/conversionuniversity/bin/topic.py?topic=12555
Good points... more inbound links... more authority (you are PR0), and spice up the site a bit... how? Go look at some of your competitor sites and gather some ideas.
Target long-tail keywords that people are searching for to buy. That is how you will convert the traffic into paying customers. Organic traffic does by, more so than other traffic, but you have to be targeting the right keywords in order for them to convert. There's a difference between a searcher just looking for information and a searcher looking to buy. Target the buying seacher.
I would think selling perfume would be kind of hard. Most people probably would be really hesitant to fork over $40 without smelling it first. And I agree with another poster here about your keywords. Your best bet here would probably be to target brand name keywords such as: "Buy Davidoff Cool Waters" or something like "Where to Get Opium by Yves Saint Laurent for Women" You'll have a better chance of selling it someone who already knows that particular brand. Also, see if you can offer some kind of discount deals, like 10% coupons exclusive through your link. Bonuses like that are a big motivator...
Really? Okay, so what is your url, and what page are YOU on to know this? Gee, ya think? Forget branding. That takes too much time, and too much money, with so few sales back in return. Like seo, branding is so overrated, it is unbelievable. Start off by looking at your competitors' sites for ideas. But don't copy them. Then start asking family, friends, associates, anybody out there for critique. I did some of my work while at a coffee shop at Barnes and Noble, and I would ask a couple of the workers there for advice. You can ask just about anyone. Keep working on it. The more you work on it, the better it gets. Also think about adding more items to that site. Like, say, makeup. Don't forget the guys, too.
Hi, I just got a new design for my site: http://i42.tinypic.com/wrkf0l.png Please let me know how it looks and if anything can be done to improve it. Current template is: http://perfumewomens.com/ Thanks for reading.
Thanks for the suggestions. Planning to do a men's perfume site soon. Just want to start earning a little bit of money from this one first. Will be making the new design live this weekend. Also thinking of starting a blog on the site.
A blog would be a great idea. That way the site would be updated often, and you could interact with customers and potential customers.
Hi cutiepie1, I think one of your hold ups is the PayPal checkout. I had a lot of dropped carts when I first started as I used only Paypal. After I started accepting credit cards on site my conversions increased dramatically. Not only for credit card sales but for PayPal payments also. I think it has to do with trust. I see you have Google Analytics set up. Have you set up conversion tracking to see where your people are dropping off at? Targeting "buy xxx" does help some as it is more directed at people looking to buy. And yes I do hold 1st page serps for this type of phrase. Branding helps by developing recognition for your company and does help in some niches. For selling perfume I am not so sure it would help as most customers only know the names of perfumes and not the companies that sell them in most instance. Your new design should help out some also. SEO is always important as free advertisement is free advertisement. Adwords and other ppc marketing may be a better bet for your niche as you can specifically target individual products. Good luck to you! HCG
