I'm not sure if this is in the right section... OK basically I live in Australia and I'm sick of not being able to directly call my host to ask for help or get my sites fixed when they go down. So I have been thinking of potentially moving all my sites over to an Australian host that has good quality support services and I was just wondering what implications there were to moving my sites to Australia and if anyone could recommend some good hosts, or a site that gives good reviews of Australian hosts? The majority of my traffic is not from Australia so what sort of implication would this have on those using my sites. Would people's experience of my sites be significantly altered... like would load times be much slower etc. Also what are some other things that need consideration before deciding to move to a country specific host? Oh also I'll be looking to move to a dedicated server as well, I dont know if that would change things much though.
They don't seemto be Australian from the look of it, and not only that they look like they have a very slow support system which is essentially what I need more than anything. So this isn't the sort of host that I'm looking for. I have been doing some thinking and I was wondering if anyone knows any AUstralian hosting companies that have dedicated servered hosted internationally rather than having their servers in Australia...
I'm hosted with iweb.ca and I can hook you up with our account manager for special discounts, they're the best in Canada. For phone support, the best would be inmotionhosting.com I was hosted with them before. You don't even have to call them, they'll call you, there's a button to request a call. If you want to use my affiliate link let me know.
if your main traffic is overseas, then I would suggest hosting there. We hosted initially (five years ago) with www.webcentral.com.au, however we did notice that there were some speed issues with international visitors, so we switched to a US hosting company, they're available 24/7 by phone (which we have used before), downtime is pretty good, and response time is excellent crystaltech.com.
So when you say you have called them before, do international call rates apply? or anything like that? I'm just worried that the support costs will mount up to more than the hosting costs for me down here in Australia, but at the same time I'm wary that I need keep loading times quick for the majority of my traffic. Also when you say response time is excellent, can you quantify that for me. Like how long does it take them to get on top of a support ticket? DO they have live chat? Things like this... Yeah but where are their servers hosted and how are their response times and uptime and all that? Thanks for all the suggestions so far guys.
I recommend ilisys.com.au (i haven't tried, so read reviews b4 buying). hostingbay.com.au quadrahosting.com.au ausweb.com.au westnethosting.com.au >> Popular in WA (If i am not mistaken the company is in Perth) hotspace.com.au hosting.obsidian.com.au >> Melbourne based ossini.net >> Again Melbourne based Hope this helps! Hi Burta, I'm pretty sure there servers are in Australia, they are a 100% Aussie company. There uptime seems fine, and they have a thing where they promise to respond to support emails within 2 hours. I've called them once and they were very helpful. However they are not very generous with there features...might need to have a look yourself if interested.
Sorry for the delay in replying international telephone rates apply = yep. support tickets = sometimes 5 minutes at the most 4 hours for the issue to be resolved and we run a dedicated server live chat = no servers are in arizona (i think?) uptime = gee... it's been excellent, we've had the site down probably 3 times in 3 years response times = we requested a new dedicated server build and it was available for use in 2 hours, granted that was in our business hours (their night time). There is another advantage that being that our busy time is their quite time. So one of the things to keep in mind if you go for a US host is that they have 24/7 support... added bonus for being in Australia.
