I am a graduating student from India. I am not a native english speaker. I dont have a great accent in English at the same time I am not bad too. I want to speak and write english like a native english speaker, including the fowl language. I watch eng movies with sub-titles as suggested by some one. Of course I have learned a bit. But by watching a 2 hour movie. I hardly learn 3 new things. I want my growth to be exponential.. Any suggestions??????
English Class heh... Speak english everyday, but really the best thing to do is just write correct english. Setences flow well together etc.
Correction: How do I know that I have said something wrong in the english language. In my opinion if you have never had an english class it just has to come... Start reading some good novels
And do read TIMES OF INDIA daily !! It's one of the best newspaper's available in India ! - Digital -
Well, ya thats an English newspaper. And a very good one. Quality of English in the newspaper is very good and easy to understand. - Digital -
Try reading English newspaper and find the meaning of unknown words. Join English speaking institutes too to learn fast.
Join english coaching class, interact with others through chat and forums, read english newspapers available in your city as well as on net. DON.
Read English newspapers and books, watch English TV and movies, and interact with as many English speakers as you can. Emerse yourself in English as much as possible and you will improve greatly. My wife couldn't speak much English when I met her and now she can speak perfectly.
I suggest you that you donot read english newspaper. Instead get one of those glossy magazines which are priced a bit higher, after all they are written not only by excellent writers but they have a style to say what's on their mind and convey clearly what they actually want to say. Read those again and again in your mind or loud and clear. Reading out loud will help you a lot because it is actually speaking in that language but to yourself, and you know to get fluent fast you need to speak and write, to learn cooking you need to actually cook right.
Best and the most interesting would be READ ENGLISH BOOKS , and yeah newspapers too(but they kind of get boring after some time ) You could also read articles on the net(those ones written by the Natives)
1)Read English newspapers 2)Listen BBC or other news 3)Read English story books This will increase ur vocabulary , help you to construct a better sentence , and this will help u to express easily Now after these you need to practice to get fluency,You can ask your friends to practice , or can get help from internet, as our site Talkingbees is doing.Hope for the best.
THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION AND IS BASED ON MY EXPERIENCES. So, I am not much of a reader. This is what I do to improve my English. I watch movies, with English subtitles. I play games. Mostly English games. But I do think its really important for you to communicate in English too. Maybe you can mix with some other friends who do speak English.
I don't know why a lot of non-native English speakers thought that they are better speakers and writers if they get to use foul language, like it's something smart or whatever. I chanced on an Indian writer over at content creation forum priding himself as a "bad-ass writer". I could have given you the link but I just can't find his thread.
Hey Kheyanne, Check this thread. Were you talking about this one? http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1371581&page=2
