IN the US if you have a check, you can find the bank it was drawn from eg Bank of America, and they will cash it for you without an account. ITs a pain sometimes, depending on the bank. Most require two forms of id, one with apicture, like a credit card and drivers license. Also many charge 5% to do this service as well. Also if the check was for $2,000 I imagine it would be even more difficult than say a chack from your grandma for $200...LOL

You would need a bank account in the same name that in on your check. Its always an account payee check and not a bearer check. If it was a bearer check like you think it is, then any one can run to the bank with your check and rip you off. Aint it??

So, just think about it and open a bank account ASAP. I wonder how you started with adsense when you don't even know how banking system works.. I mean the basics.

you dont get it yet I think. Ok, lets make it simple.

For example the postman who brings the post to your house has the same name as you. HE finds out that there is a check in the post by your name. He suddenly realises he shares the name with you. He takes the check to his bank and cashes it.

Now, all you can do is cry and whine while he goes to some classey pub and blows out your money.

    You get it now ;)

Of course you will need a bank account to deposit the money into an account that has bear the name of the adsense account holder.

Trust me man. The world would be such a nice world if everyone followed your advice. But alas, the world works a bit differently.

Yea, but there is no picture on the cheque so the postman dont have to look like you.

I think there is another way to cash it. I think western union can do it via ID but they will take a % of your money.

    -edit-
Looks like Donna was quicker :D

If you live in USA go to a gas station or may be a pawn shop which can cash cheque and they will charge you 5%-10% fees and they will give you cash right there all you need is ID with same name on cheque.

well, if ur in america you can cash your check at any check cashing place or at any bank but fees will incur and if its $2k like you claim, then you will also have to fill out a tax form for the IRS.
