My own search engine

Does anyone know an easy way or script that will allow me to set up my own Search Engine, kinda like Jim-Bob's Search Engine - No offense to Jim or Bob, that's tied into another SE or maybe PPC.

Just looking into an idea for a few names sitting around.

it will need plenty of time and energy ,I suggest you'd better use one team to do it together

 

drop the idea...its hopeless...the search engine train left station long ago...you wont catch not even with a rocket...

I was talking about my own search engine for a particular vertical niche. I guess a better example woulda been soccer search that would be a specialized search engine for soccer. But I think clades is right about being too late.

yes it's not good concept because no body can beat Google in next 10 years or so.

 

You can achieve anything in the world mate. Go for it if you can. Disappointing to know some people still have impossibility in their dictionaries.

Search Engine needs a specific software design and scope. Its not like just get an IDE and start coding.......

i remember there is some service from yahoo which lets you build ur own search engine..it will be based on yahoo though..!

Go for your idea!! Every company is small in the beginning, also Google. In this time, AltaVista were the place to go when searching... Where is AltaVista today!?

Also, don't think you shall make a "Google killer app", because it will be ... the wrong place to look for motivation. Think of doing something better than Google. Maybe not in the same field, but in a different field.

Also, don't listen to people with bad or negative advice...

There is no such script to make a Search Engine.

 

their are many scripts that make search engines connected to google, bing, yahoo or whatever, but their isn't one to make your own.

 

You need to hire a local experienced web developer to do it for you.

 

That's not a real search engine like google, yahoo...etc you just earn commission's from it.

Chances are if you have no coding knowledge then don't even try to start your own search engine. If you have a lot of money and hire the right people to help code it, then start from scratch.

I tend to agree with you, but a couple of Meta search engines are springing up here and there. They just buy cheap scripts that work well. But to make real money, one needs to invest good amount of money on a custom standalone script and marketing.
