A two party system tends to keep the nut jobs out, though in all fairness, I'd take 20 of Geert Wilders and his extreme anti-muslimism because of his stance on violence created by extreme Islam any day over an Islamic extremist who preaches racism and violence as the only means to an end.
The problem is the way people like you interpret Islam. Such as thinking it allows to kill a fellow man for deciding he does not want to follow Islam. Yeah, if that is Islam, then Islam itself is extreme and violent. So, new, which is it? Does Islam call for the death of Apostates or not? Is Islam violent at its core or not?
As long as people like Geert Wilders call for actions m by legal means, they will and SHOULD always be acceptable by civilized nations around the world (except for Britain apparently. As long as Hamas, Taliban, and pick your flavor of Islamic nutjob endorse extra-legal or "terroristic" means of bringing about change they will not and SHOULD NOT be accepted by the civilized nations of the world. Take a class in civics. Educate yourself. it is the real start of the change you seek.
