I've always simply uploaded a Base feed and ignored it afterward but I'm now paying more attention to it. I notice that when a specific product name is searched - I feature. When the generic key phrase is searched I don't get a look in, 5 or six pages later not to be seen. The companies that do show are not on the organic pages nor Adwords. So the query is - how does a Base feed get a better viewing and exposure?
I wanted to ask the same exact question. I think people may be missing out on a great opportunity with google base. Like you, I used to ignore my google base feeds, and I would even let them lapse. I wish I knew the secret to better results on more generic terms with google base. I am guessing that the more information that I give google, the better my results would be. When I checked my base settings I discovered that I didn't have sales tax or shipping information entered, so I have now enetered that information. GB was also asking for condition information, so I will add that to my feed from now on. It remains to be seen if this will help, but I will try to share my results in this thread.
i'd say frequent updates to the base feed, keyword'ey titles and descriptions and also CTR (i am sure google is checking this)
firstly, the more products you own, the more chances you producst will be searched in google base(google shopping) secondly, add more items such as location, brand, quantity and so on to get more chance to get searched. thirdly, research what keywords for specific products your customers use, then optimize your title, description, and anything else you can do to drive traffic. fourthly, submit your site to many reviews site to get your site reviewed, they'll all show below your products in google shopping, you get the higher CTR, you'll get more exposure of your products. good luck.
It is depends on the quality of your website like website search. such as old domain and backlinks. That is I thought.
Submit as much info as you can, color, shipping, ect. you can even add a few custom options to you own feed if you think customers will use those terms when searching for your products.
You're welcome but seemly i meet some problem to submit my feeds to base successfully, hope i can fingure it out ASAP.
